Doing Ishnaan Seva In Harmandir Sahib

Good question. Would be nice to have a reply on this.

There are many other such examples. At the local Gurdwara a chap always gives thoof to the Nishaan Sahib pole when the seva of the Nishaan Sahib is being done. Also they wash the Nishaan Sahib pole with yogurt. Would be nice to know the reasoning behind this.

I am sure it has nothing to do with milk being sacred or anything. Maybe it is better for the marble or the pole, maybe the milk gives it a shine or makes it last longer or something. I however dont drink milk because I dont want to support the horrible dairy industry in the US, and here they are just throwing it away.

Anybody got the 100% sure answer?

Lolll noo , its beacuse milk is the purest thing

As written in the bani's of Bhagat Ravidass,

"What can I offer you that is pure?"

"Water? But the fish has already polluted it"

"Flowers? The bee has already tasted it"

"Milk? But the calf has already tasted it"

"The only thing I can offer you Lord, is your True Name."

Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh.
