no wonder we've been given a kirpan for defense. if i had one (which i will soon i hope) and some sick perverted gyani tried something on me i'd slash him right there! yes, there are other factors that come into the picture: the cops, parents, other ppl...but who cares? do it for yourself and the many other women who are afraid to say anything. let the gyanis know we wont' take crap from them!

i personally go to gurdwara every week in the weekdays when theres no one there except the gyanis. sometimes a few ppl or a family comes in and will ask a bhai to do their ardaas. but i remain aware of my surroundings and i don't talk to the bhais unnecessarily. its sad that the ppl who we should be able to trust are the ones we have to beware of

Sat Sri Akal:

Forgive my rudeness...but please do provide the addresses of these Gurudwaras.

Maybe the Sangat here can take a Jatha to the committee and take up the issue with them. If they do not cooperate, directly call the cops and have the perverts thrown in prison where they can know what it is like to be a victim of abuse (should do that in cooperation with the committee if possible so that more support can be drawn up to rid of these disturbed people).

Outright assault of these people will result in arrest and jail time...why not send them to jail instead...I am sure they will get all the beatings they need there? ... grin.gif

What you say...time to clean out the Gurudwaras? Do not be afraid to speak up...if this remains silent, more and more Sikh women WILL be abused. If you hated that it happened to you, remember that it could be happening to one of your sisters RIGHT NOW!!! Help stop this as soon as possible.

It doesn't seem nice discussing this but it's something which i have been questioning for months. no.gif

Are giannis and patties all they make out to be?

I always had alot of respect for them. They are there to help us through to the path of god. A guide as some would say.

A couple of months ago i was at the bus stop. An old man wearing a turban was sitting there. It was a very cold morning as it was snowing.

He kept lookin at me an me well i was more worried about when me bus was going to come. He had the ajit newspaper in his lap but i took no notice of him.

I looked over to see if the bus was coming an there i saw "IT".

He had his thing in his hand. He knew i had seen it but he did nothing to cover it up. I was disgusted. An old sikh man was doing this infront of me. I must have been the same age of his grandaughter if he had one.

What made it even worse was that when the bus did finally come he didn't even get on it. He got up an walked away.

You might be thinking what has this got to do with giannis an patties.

A few weeks later i was on a bus an i saw him get on. I could see he recognised me cus he did not seem comfortable sitting not that far from me. He was dressed in traditional white. Like a patti or gianni.

I was on me wayto the gurdwara an what shocked me was that he was at the exact same gurdwara reading the guru granth sahib ji.

I no this may not go for all giannis an patties as most are as respectable as they look and do respect sikhi an girls as their daughters, but that incident did make me question.

Can anyone help? no.gif

About 18 months ago Sikhs rioted outside that theatre that was putting on a play about sex abuse in a Gurdwara by a commitee leader. Lots of Sikhs said it could never happen in a Gurdwara. Those people are going to look stupid when and if sexual abuse is uncovered by the police and it turns out that it was covered up by giannis and patties. It won't surprise me if it does happen. It happened in the Catholic church. It happens in Muslim madrassas. It has happened in mandirs in the UK too. But as usual, the culture of denial and silence reigns supreme, and evil men who exploit the vocation of the Guru get away with their crimes, better to hush hush it all and brush it under the carpet. What a rotten and sad mentality.

All very sad to hear. But I think you should not start a thread of whos doing what...Rather...we find a long term solution to this problem.
