KUMI SAID -

"Firstly Master/Ustaad Bhai Harjinder Singh Jee, Did not at any point in his Chardi Kala Life *Hit* some one with a kala, or even lay a finger on person (Unless sparing which equals controlled conditions), all of thses rumors start of with sum individuals trying to cause and stir troubles beacuse they do not have nothing else to do with thier lives, cept make other people suffer and feel pain."

apart from the day he spared with one of his students wearing a spiked fo-arm plate.... hmm yeh real chardi kala sayin we supposed to be students, plus the fact that he couldnt pull it off on his own....

oh n the scandel about him hitting one of his previose akhra students....with a kara.... but again the police are dealing with such things....

sorry guyz i no this is a very old topic - but can any one confirm after 4 years if this event of 'ustad' harjinder singh beating a kid with a kara is true or not and why did they stop teaching gatka in derby ? i have heard rumours about them many times!

the reason i ask is that i live in loughborough (close to leicester) where they are teaching gatka on sundays - and was thinking about learning gatka - and wanted to clarify this before i started

Gatka and self defence are 2 different things.

If you want to learn a real fighting art (I expect Shastar Vidya is out the question, as if it were an option you would have chosen it as there is an Akhaara near you in Leicester every Sunday afternoon) I would suggest something Ninjitsu, Wing Chun, grappling forms and original Kali forms (for weapons), as something that is not a game/sport, but rather a highly practical and useable science.

Look up classes for the above in your lcoal area on the internet.

I would suggest "shopping around" for even the budu, WC, Kali and grappling schools as they are not always teaching the same thing and at the same level. With the commercialisation of martial arts schools around the world, most ppl have turned them into businesses, where the actual effectiveness is watered down, the techniques are not as effective. Trial a few schools and see which works best for you, any place that tries to hook you up on a direct debit, run for the door.
