Gurfateh!!

I've seen the video to the song with all the Singhs in it, and i think its disgusting that the actors cnt evn cover their heads while in the presence of Shastar andother Gursikhs where everyone has their head covered.

I was also disappointed the the Nihangs agreed to it but then again people in india would do anything to get on the big screen :@

Gurfateh!!

Since you are talking about movies, has anyone of you seen pakistani movies ?? Recently I am watching quite a few since I get a pakistani movie channel on DTH. In these movies all hindus are either acting as jokers or busy killing women and children (they do not have the strength of course to stand up to the Mard-e-momin pakistani male, so..) and are 24/7 plotting up some devious plans to con everybody else especially the muslims. Hindus are always tied hair in a ponytail and are almost always acting like jokers, and none of them can win a fight against the brave muslim male. In a movie I am watching just now there is a hindu Dacoit called Mohan Chand and he is on the verge of converting to Islam...

Treatment of Sikhs is different, Sikhs are villains and often paired up with hindus but Sikhs are always honorable villains and in the end of the movie convert to Islam. There are also some stereotypes as the 'drunkard' and 'clown' etc but those are relatively few compared to the brave Sikh anti-hero who converts to Islam and supposedly sees the light in the end. In one movie the hero was drinking profusely in front of a monument which had a golden dome. The on movie the camera focuses on a golden dome repeatedly and the hero who is sikh is shown to be drinking in front of it while bringing a kidnapped muslim women to marry. There is also the rare mention of Christians who are always shown to be drunkards and womanizers.

Added ltr: Ok as I predicted the daku (dacoit) Mohan Chand has converted to Islam.

WJKK WJKF

maybe the film with the nihang singhs is not deframing sikhi..........maybe they agreed to get on the big screen so that ppl are more aware about sikhi ..............

if sikhs are only allowed to appear in films which are strictly rehit then we wud never have any sikh awareness in films ....... there would only be a few but thats it.

You gotta remember its only a movie........... and think of it as a positive thing that they are using sikhs in films. i know what you guys mean but we need to let sikhs get noticed ......... and obv ther are limits

WAHEGURU JI KA KHALSA WAHEGURU JI KI FATEH

Check this link out about this film:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/south_asia/4598666.stm

Going out of topic...

The films about:

Rang de Basanti - directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra - tells the story of a young English film-maker who comes to India to make a documentary on the people who fought for India's independence.

The documentary director, played by Alice Patten, recruits five college students to play the roles of the freedom fighters, even though they do not identify with the characters.

Its a film with inaccuracies in about the Indian mutiny in 1857!

Today the Indian Air Force, who earlier had a problem with this movie, cleared it. Apparently they show a scene where the defense minister accepts bribe, and bang we have a controversy! So the defense minister also had to watch the movie and he too gave it a green signal (so he does take bribes? LOL.gifLOL.gif ). Then there is something about Indian Air Force jets crashing and the pilots' families not getting the promised compensation.

But I must say I am jealous of Aamir Khan :) . He gotta chance to do what I didn't get a chance to do.

He did ishnaan at the sarowar at Sri Darbar Sahib :@ !!!!!
