Looks good so far. :TH:

Your site says "The first Sikh computer game mod". May I ask what it's a mod for? Like, CS?

I'm a little naive about these things, sorry.

what it means is taht essentially we are not creatign a game totally from scratch

as it woudl take years and years and some complex programming to create a whole new game engine system.

so wat we are goign to do is get an existing game engine which comes with an editor, built in AI and dynamics system ...... and just create new content for it.

for instance there is a game engine called unreal from a company called epic. a great engine, so other comnpanies will buy a license for the engine and then just create their own content for it.

eg - spilnter cell - is basically a mod of the unreal engine, so its the same engine but it uses the unreal as a base startoff.

there are many engines out there - Counter strike is a mod of the halflife engine.

so in a way we are creating a brand new game but because we cant afford the thousands of dollars license it will be released for free and therefore will come under a MOD - or modification of an existing engine.

A game engine is the core software component of a video game. It typically handles graphical rendering and other necessary technology, but might also handle additional tasks such as game AI and collision detection between game objects, among other things. The most common element that a game engine provides is graphics rendering facilities (2D or 3D). Another common attribute of game engines is platform abstraction, so the game can run in various platforms (game consoles, Microsoft Windows) with little, if any, changes in the game source code.

games, such as Quake III Arena and Epic Games's 1998 Unreal were designed with this approach in mind, with the engine and content developed separately. The licensing of such technology has proved to be a useful auxiliary revenue stream for some game developers, as a single license for a high-end commercial game engine can range from US$10,000 to $750,000 and the number of licensees reaching several tens of companies (for the Unreal engine). At the very least, reusable engines make developing game sequels much easier and faster, a valuable advantage in the competitive computer game industry.

The continued refinement of game engines has allowed a strong separation between rendering, scripting, artwork, and level design. It is now common (as of 2003), for example, for a typical game development team to be composed of artists and programmers in an 4:1 ratio

you have most probably already played a game made with teh unreal engien but didnt even know it,

so basically they just bought a license for the engine and developed their own content.

here are a list of games made with the unreal engine......
