Shes Going Out With A Goth

hi sangat

I have a friend & she is Amritdari. She also wears a distar. The only thing that I donnot like about her is that she is with a goth. When I say that, I mean that she is dating a goth boy. He is white, but that's not the issue. The issue is that the guy she is going out with doesn't have a faith. He doesn't believe that there is a God and he is full of kaam & she knows that too. But she is not listening to me. I told her two times in a nice manner 'Please stop going out with him. He doesn't even beleve in God and he's going to hurt you. He is full of lust & you know that."

She didn't listen to me & is now mad. So I stopped telling her. But I am worried for her. What shud I do? What if her mother & father find out.

help me sangat.

If she is not listening to you than make sure her parents know of this as it is not her own dignity at stake but her parents as well...... maybe they can make her understand better...or maybe force her to stop.... she might be upset for a while but will eventually thank you when she comes back to her senses....... may guruji give her some budhi!!

Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa. Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh.

(whats budhi? blush.gif )

i like palamrinder jis idea.

but i suggest you to try to talk to her alone once more. just tell her what things can go wrong and stuff if she doesnt stop. and tell her that you'll inform her parents if she doesnt stop. and then inform them if she still wont listen.

you dont have to go into much detail but at least try let her know that youre gonna have to inform her parents....

this is just what i think should be done. i dunno though.

good luck penji/veerji.

peace...

I suggest that you do not tell her parents b/c she is going to hate you... and most likely never talk to you again. Talk to her about it in a serious manner rather than yelling and do it with alone girl time. Also, bring other friends involved, the guy friends are also good and other girl friends. Try to go to the issue more that what she is doing wrong to what could potentially happen to her if she continues. She most likely knows what she is doing, she is not stupid. Tell her do you really see yourself with him in the next couple of years? As a committed sikh, do you think he will respect you as a sikh and possibly become a sikh. How old is she by the way? She sounds like a teenager just experimenting, but I could be wrong. We all learn from our mistakes and god forgives us. Try not being so harsh and bring it to a mature level. Best thing as a friend is try to support her through hard times, mabye she is rebelling in her own right, maybe its something else she is bugged with. Ask her if she is okay, ask her if school is okay, if the family is okay. I know its odd, but I know once i did something that was so out of sikhi, only to rebel secretly to my parents always telling me what to do, and what is right... now i always know i did that to rebel, in the end i realised i was not a good thing to do and also rebelling was a bad excuse. But at the time I was younger, less wiser, less knowledgeable. Also get to know the guy... maybe he is actually a cool guy. I don't know but all i know is what you are doing now is just bickering, and personally if it was me i would just keep on doing it just because you hate it....

sorry if i offended anyone!

aside from talkin to her... there's nothin u can do... do NOT go to the parents or anybody else 'cause i's her own thing.. i's not really anybodys 'business'... in the end if she screws herself over i's her own fault...

and btw.. if she's 'going out' wit this dude.. and has done physical stuff.. then she's already broken her amrit...

Waheguruji ka khalsa waheguru ji ki fateh

This is a great lesson for all of us, if we wear dastars and have the sikh apearnce then we should act acordingly.....thats why there is some hate against sikhs due to some folks who are sikhs but dont act like one......and for her as some one said talk to her about it and may waheguru give her budhi ( khalsa girl its sense ) so she come back to her roots......

    • yeh it's true, we shouldn't be lazy and need to learn jhatka shikaar. It doesn't help some of grew up in surrounding areas like Slough and Southall where everyone thought it was super bad for amrit dharis to eat meat, and they were following Sant babas and jathas, and instead the Singhs should have been normalising jhatka just like the recent world war soldiers did. We are trying to rectifiy this and khalsa should learn jhatka.  But I am just writing about bhog for those that are still learning rehit. As I explained, there are all these negative influences in the panth that talk against rehit, but this shouldn't deter us from taking khanda pahul, no matter what level of rehit we are!
    • How is it going to help? The link is of a Sikh hunter. Fine, but what good does that do the lazy Sikh who ate khulla maas in a restaurant? By the way, for the OP, yes, it's against rehit to eat khulla maas.
    • Yeah, Sikhs should do bhog of food they eat. But the point of bhog is to only do bhog of food which is fit to be presented to Maharaj. It's not maryada to do bhog of khulla maas and pretend it's OK to eat. It's not. Come on, bro, you should know better than to bring this Sakhi into it. Is this Sikh in the restaurant accompanied by Guru Gobind Singh ji? Is he fighting a dharam yudh? Or is he merely filling his belly with the nearest restaurant?  Please don't make a mockery of our puratan Singhs' sacrifices by comparing them to lazy Sikhs who eat khulla maas.
    • Seriously?? The Dhadi is trying to be cute. For those who didn't get it, he said: "Some say Maharaj killed bakras (goats). Some say he cut the heads of the Panj Piyaras. The truth is that they weren't goats. It was she-goats (ਬਕਰੀਆਂ). He jhatka'd she-goats. Not he-goats." Wow. This is possibly the stupidest thing I've ever heard in relation to Sikhi.
    • Instead of a 9 inch or larger kirpan, take a smaller kirpan and put it (without gatra) inside your smaller turban and tie the turban tightly. This keeps a kirpan on your person without interfering with the massage or alarming the masseuse. I'm not talking about a trinket but rather an actual small kirpan that fits in a sheath (you'll have to search to find one). As for ahem, "problems", you could get a male masseuse. I don't know where you are, but in most places there are professional masseuses who actually know what they are doing and can really relieve your muscle pains.
