At the park we will have a candlelight vigil in memory of and in solidarity with the martyrs and victims of Operation Bluestar and the Delhi Pogroms. The picnic will be followed by an evening at the Fresno State Student Union Building, which will be reserved exclusively for Jakara. You can enjoy bowling, billiards, arcade games, bhangra, and various other fun activities well into the night.

Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa!! Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh!!

Khalsa Jio, i clicked on the link and this film started, on there "Sikh" women were giving their views on "Sikh" Men, these days these programmes have become more of a blind date!

Is this Gurmat?

We need to join our daughters & sisters with Guru Granth Panth, not with ourselves, Sikhism is not a dating agency, watching this film, I did not see one word of Gurmat come out of any of them Bibian's mouths.

Isit really the elders to blame for youth drifting away from GurSikhi? Or isit us the youth ourselves to blame?

What we are doing is trying to change Sikhi to being more westernised to suit us, but not changing ourselves to become good Sikhs.

Its the "NEW WAVE" not to have a Dastaar, not to have a Beard, not to have ANYTHING to do with Guru Granth Panth, who is to blame?

If a bollywood film runs on all night, were fine with it, but if the Ragi Sahibaan take an extra 15 minutes doing Sri Asa Ji Di Vaar da Kirtan we all start complaining?

How much Gurmat is there? Daas really thinks that programmes like these really need to get back to basics, WHO ARE WE? WHAT ARE WE? WHAT ARE WE DOING? WHAT SHOULD WE BE DOING?

But no, we are such selfish people, after all Dhan Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaaj did for our Shaan, is this how we repay him?

Were all to blame, we need to get into schools, colleges and universities to do Gurmat Veechar and Gurmat Parchaar, not just run a dating agency in the name of Sikhi.

Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa!! Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh!!

Nice reply Singh_Shiromani, i did like certain parts of the short advert that was presented in another post, but it's lacking in areas like you mentioned.

Can anyone clarify what is the jakara movement is? i never got a clear picture from the site.

The main highlights of the trailer are the top level sikhi that comes out the mouths of these gursikh people, the trailer is about what women in sikhi want, and what vichaar they have i wish my vichaar were that powerful. i am proud that there are sikhs like that in the world.

SSM you're right with your frustration and they may not care as much as we'd like to have them care (or they might). But I think it's important that they are aware of what others think. It may not keep them from continuing, but it may keep them from being even bolder in their idiocy.

Maybe we need to organize events, camps etc. at the same time or to the same target audience where and when Jakara is. Better, more intelligent, more fun, more genuine and real. True sikh camps are the ultimate high. I think the irony might be that young women are generally more mature and intelligent than young men and a true sikh camp may attract the interest of potential jakara women first.

.... and guess who then might be attracted to this camp? Oh well it'll be a start.

For the purposes of addressing communications directly to people, does anyone know the names and contacts of those in charge at jakara?

If Some Singhni(z) on this site are in that area it would be a good to find out what they are really teaching these girls because no 1 has sikhi BBQ's from 6.00pm to 2.00am in the morning there must be more than meets the eye. so again if there iz ne1 in da area ave a look because an organisation of "sikhs" that support mini skirts what else are they teaching or shall i say brainwashing these girls to do. some of the thing they stated in the trailer are true but the way they are going about making the changes are wrong. What do u PPL tink

    • yeh it's true, we shouldn't be lazy and need to learn jhatka shikaar. It doesn't help some of grew up in surrounding areas like Slough and Southall where everyone thought it was super bad for amrit dharis to eat meat, and they were following Sant babas and jathas, and instead the Singhs should have been normalising jhatka just like the recent world war soldiers did. We are trying to rectifiy this and khalsa should learn jhatka.  But I am just writing about bhog for those that are still learning rehit. As I explained, there are all these negative influences in the panth that talk against rehit, but this shouldn't deter us from taking khanda pahul, no matter what level of rehit we are!
    • How is it going to help? The link is of a Sikh hunter. Fine, but what good does that do the lazy Sikh who ate khulla maas in a restaurant? By the way, for the OP, yes, it's against rehit to eat khulla maas.
    • Yeah, Sikhs should do bhog of food they eat. But the point of bhog is to only do bhog of food which is fit to be presented to Maharaj. It's not maryada to do bhog of khulla maas and pretend it's OK to eat. It's not. Come on, bro, you should know better than to bring this Sakhi into it. Is this Sikh in the restaurant accompanied by Guru Gobind Singh ji? Is he fighting a dharam yudh? Or is he merely filling his belly with the nearest restaurant?  Please don't make a mockery of our puratan Singhs' sacrifices by comparing them to lazy Sikhs who eat khulla maas.
    • Seriously?? The Dhadi is trying to be cute. For those who didn't get it, he said: "Some say Maharaj killed bakras (goats). Some say he cut the heads of the Panj Piyaras. The truth is that they weren't goats. It was she-goats (ਬਕਰੀਆਂ). He jhatka'd she-goats. Not he-goats." Wow. This is possibly the stupidest thing I've ever heard in relation to Sikhi.
    • Instead of a 9 inch or larger kirpan, take a smaller kirpan and put it (without gatra) inside your smaller turban and tie the turban tightly. This keeps a kirpan on your person without interfering with the massage or alarming the masseuse. I'm not talking about a trinket but rather an actual small kirpan that fits in a sheath (you'll have to search to find one). As for ahem, "problems", you could get a male masseuse. I don't know where you are, but in most places there are professional masseuses who actually know what they are doing and can really relieve your muscle pains.
