A Query From Us Singhnees

Recommended Posts

Here is a reply I had saved last nite but could not post because server went down. I am sure Singh di fauj paji that many who although havent replied have at least read...and here is something important>

If we look at the seriousness of this issue, it is really deep.

For some bibis to be commiting kurehits coz of taunting, mocking, and pressure by fellow gursikhs,......where will that take sikhi.....I know where....

To where it is now......

Why do we reckon girls go with hindus and muslims (non-singhnee girls)its when they see such issues in sikhi.…..Then guys come down hard on them calling them nasty names……Who gave them the right?

Why do bibis commit kurehits?…. Not because of others in society, not the non-sikh population….

..But The Sikhs themselves and sometimes more often because of fellow amritdharis.

Think about all of this…especially all the guys reading right now. Your turns of action can help not only your sisters, singhnees But in the bigger picture…..*Sikhi*.

There is always a root cause and this may be just one them…. And also to Bibis…If You my sisters are also treating any singh the same way then please think about the above.

Any mistakes in wording chosen.....i apologise.

First off, good topic :TH: its refreshing to see such issues being discussed and i hope in the future people have the courage and maturity to discuss them as this forum is a good place to dispel ignorance.

The idea of singhs / singhnia putting peer pressure on other amritdharis to commit kurehits is repugnant to everything the Panth stands for.

One of the reasons Dasam Pathshah made the Khalsa roop so distinct was so we would always stand out, always be singled out and we'd toughen ourselves to the views of society. We are lucky to have the opportunity in this lifetime to keep the roop that He gave us, maybe moorakhs like me need to be a little more thankful for it. True Gursikhs are gems that are few and far between - Waheguru filled the rest of the world with fools like me to make sure His Sikhs would appreciate the sangat of Gursikhs when they finally found it! Akaal Purakh blesses us with our physical forms not to pick out socially-constructed "flaws" in His creation. In the end its just a vessel to get to a better place! Maybe He did you a favour by so quickly showing you the bad intentions of ignorant people.

Thanx for sharing your views pajee, awareness of this issue can help so so much, please other penjis share your own experiences too so we can learn from each other and support one another.

Many sisters or bros post in gupt...I believe that the issue remains in the air that way because the person is scared to identify themselves and openly discuss the issue. If we want acceptance and open discussion we need not hide away in a sense..that may just further add to the issue rather than resolve it or at least bring some changes in others. Fair enuf some need to stay gupt, but these kinda issues need not be that way....they need forwardness.

Well said bro.

Sikhi and Waheguru is more imporant than our human form.... if people who claim to be amritdhari yet still judge people by apperances they need to go back and look at our history how many gave their lives for not 1 single hair of their faith to be cut but laid down their lives readly against the darkness of Islamic tyranny yet today even the so called faithfully are sheeps in lions clothing.

heres a gud online video to remind everyone the sacrifices our forefathers and mothers made for the faith and humanity

d_oh.gifd_oh.gifd_oh.gif to our Guru jis sacrifices and shaheedhs. In case a moorakh like me forgets how great the sacrifices were this video link was so so much needed as a reminder of how we got the chance to call ourselves Khalsa.

a gurmukh is a seeker of real beauty of course.but real beauty never prostitutes itself like its counterfeit, false, bluff beauty does.so an amritdhari child of Guruju should be careful of being falsely misled .

never ever marry a person who appears outwardly 'attractive',but inwardly is rotten,a time and space waster, and an abuser.marry not on the basis of looks, race, colour,,education, economic prosperity, etc.marry based only on one criteria i e whether that person is a gurmukh or a future gurmukh.

the most beautiful persons are those who love Guruji, completely addicted to naam,to satsang,to kirtan ,to gurmukh company ,who live for the supreme pleasure of God according to God's supreme will, who live for amritvela ,who dwell on gurbani, who do continous sewa.

may Guruji bless us to have such gurmukhs as our life partners.

To 'surd r cute'....

That is a qeustion which any khalsa can answer for you. When we enrol in to this school. One of the lessons we receive is that once you have been blessed with the sweet amrit you are the khalsa and not what you were before. Your birth place is now from Sri Takhat Anandpur Sahib, Your Father is Guru Gobind Singh Ji(vaheguruuuuu ji) and Mother is Mata Sahib Kaur ji (vaheguru ji).

When amrit is taken we say Vaheguru ji ka khalsa Vaheguru ji kki fateh and call out the fateh many times to the sangat during the amrit sanchar.

There is no question need be asked as to whether an amritdhari girl or boy will consider another persons background or caste or colour when deciding on a wedding ristha because the person is part of The Khalsa. Dhan Dhan our Guru Sahibaans who created such a beautiful Khalsa Family.

everything would be ok if we wud all live by sikh principles.....the problem is that theres always someone, your own parents, the inlaws, or other family who have to say what they think about caste, color and back ground..............most of the time the ones who are gettin married arent bothered about these things, but generally go with their family because they dont want their wife/husband to suffer the consequences when living with the family.

but with regards to the topic, if people ask so many questions and have so many demands then is it really worth marrying them? We shud let guru ji do the kirpa of choosing and not worry so much

fateh ji

    • yeh it's true, we shouldn't be lazy and need to learn jhatka shikaar. It doesn't help some of grew up in surrounding areas like Slough and Southall where everyone thought it was super bad for amrit dharis to eat meat, and they were following Sant babas and jathas, and instead the Singhs should have been normalising jhatka just like the recent world war soldiers did. We are trying to rectifiy this and khalsa should learn jhatka.  But I am just writing about bhog for those that are still learning rehit. As I explained, there are all these negative influences in the panth that talk against rehit, but this shouldn't deter us from taking khanda pahul, no matter what level of rehit we are!
    • How is it going to help? The link is of a Sikh hunter. Fine, but what good does that do the lazy Sikh who ate khulla maas in a restaurant? By the way, for the OP, yes, it's against rehit to eat khulla maas.
    • Yeah, Sikhs should do bhog of food they eat. But the point of bhog is to only do bhog of food which is fit to be presented to Maharaj. It's not maryada to do bhog of khulla maas and pretend it's OK to eat. It's not. Come on, bro, you should know better than to bring this Sakhi into it. Is this Sikh in the restaurant accompanied by Guru Gobind Singh ji? Is he fighting a dharam yudh? Or is he merely filling his belly with the nearest restaurant?  Please don't make a mockery of our puratan Singhs' sacrifices by comparing them to lazy Sikhs who eat khulla maas.
    • Seriously?? The Dhadi is trying to be cute. For those who didn't get it, he said: "Some say Maharaj killed bakras (goats). Some say he cut the heads of the Panj Piyaras. The truth is that they weren't goats. It was she-goats (ਬਕਰੀਆਂ). He jhatka'd she-goats. Not he-goats." Wow. This is possibly the stupidest thing I've ever heard in relation to Sikhi.
    • Instead of a 9 inch or larger kirpan, take a smaller kirpan and put it (without gatra) inside your smaller turban and tie the turban tightly. This keeps a kirpan on your person without interfering with the massage or alarming the masseuse. I'm not talking about a trinket but rather an actual small kirpan that fits in a sheath (you'll have to search to find one). As for ahem, "problems", you could get a male masseuse. I don't know where you are, but in most places there are professional masseuses who actually know what they are doing and can really relieve your muscle pains.
