Kirpan Bhet - When Did It Start?

My dad asked me to lookinto this. So far after midnight googling, i came up with some informaiton which if i add to somethings that i remember from childhood, i can sort of put together a picture.

So the main question is "When did sikhs started doing Kirpan Bhet to Karah Parshad?" My dad mentioned something about Machiwara and the whole Uch da Peer incedent. So i did some Google search and i found one site which briefly mentions that When Guru ji was being takenby Bhai Gani Khan and Nabi Khan and Bhai Daya singh, they were stopped by a Mughal Petrol who asked who the man sitting on the manji was. Gani Khan and Nabi Khan introduced Guru Gobind singh jee as Uch da peer. I think then the Muslim soldiers gave them halal meat to eat just to test that they werent sikhs. Guru Gobind singh jee then told Bhai Daya singh jee to Do Kirpan Bhet to the meat and recite Japuji sahib di pauri and (not sure about this) after he had done that the Meat turned into karah which Bhai Daya singh ate?

Also i believe there is a place or Gurdwara in Machiwara called "Kirpan Bhet"?

So can someone please answer the question "When did sikhs started doing Kirpan Bhet to Karah Parshad?" and also if possible shed light on the Uch da peer incedent

Umm, interesting...

I think I remember hearing that the soldiers got a trusted Mullah to verify Bhai Ghani Khan and Nabi Khans asertions. The Mullah, after seeing my true king, then said that Guru Gobind Singh Ji is "peer -aa de peer" i.e. the spirtiual divine of spirtual divine people. The soldiers then let them past.

The meat test is new to me ji.

It comes from Guru Gobind Singh Ji accepting gifts / giving "asheervad" / marking his approval with the use of his Teer whilst being on his Asthaan.

In Hazoor Sahib bhog and acceptance of items like Rumallas for Guru Maharaj is still blessed with a Teer.

The Kirpan Bhet is adapted from here, since it is the most common shastar of the Khalsa.

Guru Ji used to touch the karahparsaad that was brought into the sangat. With Guruguddi being passed on to Guru Granth and GuruPanth, this process was changed to kirpan bhet.

This seems logical.

Sorry for bumping this thread but can other members please give insight into why we do kirpan bhet. I was asked this question and didn't know the answer myself.

there is a gurdwara called Kirpan Bhet, whch commemorates the sakhi of Guru Ji being stopped by the Moghals. Rattan Singh Bhangu has written on it in Panth Parkash, it is deffo worth a read, and this is the 1st that i have heard of Kirpan Bhet happening myself.
