Waaheguru ji ka Khalsa

waaheguru ji Ki fateh!

India is releasing textbooks which distort sikh history and call guru Tegh Bahadur Ji's shaheedi just a death from a "rivalry"

Bharat mata, where 20 million "sikhs" live, how do people who write textbooks not know about Guru tegh bahadur Ji's shaheedi? My question is for all the sikhs in india, what are you guys doing there? You have a sikh prime minister yet your country teaches people that Guru Tegh bahadur Ji wasn't a martyr? Have you people become that barinwashed that now even your history isn't worth fighting for? You people ignore 1978 vaisakhi massacre, 1984 akaal takhat demolition, 1984 delhi pogroms, mass cremations of sikh youth in punjab, but ignoring your history is over the top.

I know people are gonna say, you can't blame all sikhs in punjab. Come on there is a limit to stupidity. The Indian region is where our religion grew and blossomed. How after 500 years of sikh history do textbooks in India still not know about sikh history?! Enough is enough, eventually people have to wake up and see that these things are not just accidents but rather intentional attacks on our religious heritage and pride.

All the people in the west are blamed for khalsitani talks etc, but geez can you people in India at least preserve your heritage. We in the west teach people about the martyrdom of guru tegh bahadur ji for another faith other than his own , and your country is teaching over one billion people in India that guru tegh bahadur ji died because of a rivalry?!

Enough is enough. All you sikhs in india need to open your drunk eyes. wake up and at least protect your heritage. You people are all drunk on the manmohan singh as prime minister drama and let these important issues pass by like it is nothing.

Wake Up!

When it comes to NCERT textbooks, controversy just follows. The objections, this time, have come from a statutory body — National Minorities Commission (NCM).

Within few days of HRD minister Arjun Singh releasing NCERT textbooks in April, with much fanfare, NCM found objectionable content in the books. Their objections were mainly in the social sciences textbooks of class VI and VII regarding Sikh and Jain community.

The Sikh community hadn’t liked the way their Gurus were depicted in an ignorant and offensive manner. Also, there is no reference to Guru Teg Bahadhur as a martyr.

Highly controversially His martyrdom was described 'just a killing resulting from a rivalry'. There were also strong objections on the descriptions of many wars of Sikh Gurus with Mughal kings.

Jains also made objections to the portrayal of their faith. They were mostly regarding references to the religion and God Mahavira in the textbooks. However, the commission officials refused to elaborate more on the issue terming it ‘highly sensitive’ and ‘communal’.

The Commission got the objections raised on eight text books legally examined before issuing a notice to NCERT. Officials say that of the eight textbooks only three have been scraped.

On the remaining texts, the Sikh and Jain communities will have to wait with anticipation whilst the NCERT made 'assurances' that the objections will be removed.

Please make your objections known to the NCERT and NCM directly by contacting them at:

http://www.ncert.nic.in/sites/Variables/contact.htm

http://ncm.nic.in/html/fr_contactus.html

State the following in any correspondence:

Hello,

I am contacting you to object against the social sciences textbooks of class VI and VII regarding Sikh and Jain community. The textbooks mock the Sikh religion. Sikhs are offended by the depiction of Gurus in an ignorant and offensive manner. Also, there is no reference to Guru Teg Bahadhur as a martyr which is an insult to the history of Bharat. His martyrdom was described 'just a killing resulting from a rivalry' which is highly offensive as He gave His life for the human rights of the masses, so that they had freedom to practice their own religions. We strongly object to the descriptions of many wars of Sikh Gurus with Mughal kings as these were no mere rivalries but important wars fought by those who gave their lives so that we could live free today.

I am also dismayed by the offensive portrayal of the Jain religion. Many references on the religion and God Mahavira are written insensitively.

The National Minorities Commission got objections raised on eight text books legally examined before issuing a notice to NCERT. Officials say that of the eight textbooks only three have been scraped. As these textbooks are used to educate youngsters across the country on the Sikh and Jain religions we demand that they be written by religious institutions of that particular faith to ensure the faith is not disrespected by ignorant or prejudiced views.

The guy who wrote the <banned word filter activated> deserves to be shot in the head like indra gandhi

if Sikhs in India start to listen to some Sh*ty RSS explanation of our Mahapursh Guru's then Sikhi will soon become a part of Sanatnism...

its all a Hindu thing to get people away from the truth of SIkhi and start listening to the Mustande Bahman Goverment of India...

and another thing,

without Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, all these Kuthe Mustande's that call themselves Brahmin's would have been some curcumsized Suni muslims living in Pakistan...

It's part of the greater scheme to dimish Sikhi. Just recently the Supreme Court of India reaffirmed the old definition of Sikhism as being part of the Hindu Faith. They stated that to view Sikhims as a seperate religion would "endanger the cohenesion" of India, or words to that effect. RSS is not just an organization anymore, it's the mindset of the Majority of Hindus in India.
