Shaheed Bhai Baljinder Singh Chookimaan

In 1984 Bhai Baljinder singh chookiman attained martyrdom by fighting the forces of hindustan. He was the youngest singh in the jatha to attained martyrdom at darbar sahib during operation bluestar.

During bhai sahibs shaheedi he was 17 years and 5 months old. Shaheed singh's mother Bibi Dalbir Kaur told someone that Baljinder Singh was just in 9th grade and took part in Sant baba jarnail singh bhindranwale's

dharam yudh morcha. Bhai jee followed sant jarnail singh's bachan like no one did and whatever sant jee gave him the duty he did it with full dedication towards panthic sewa. At bhai sahibs house gurbani was played 24 hr and during a young bhai sahib started reading about those who attained shaheedi during dharam yudh morcha like bhai kulwant singh nagoke.

From the begining bhai sahib was a quiet and peaceful minded person. He was very peaceful inside and he coul not bare to see harassment of innocent people.

When Sant jee told the sikh kaum about the non fairness happening in india sant jee recorded tapes so the sikhsangat can hear them,and by listening to those tapes bhai baljinder singh became more brave and started to think to die for his panth.

Bhai sahib always talked to friends about the sant jarnail singh and dharam yudh morcha. When people who lived around bhai sahib started talkin about bhai sahib's khadkoo thinkin, bhai sahib left his home for darbar sahib.

At darbar sahib the first singhs bhai sahib met were from jatha babar khalsa but very fast bhai sahib joined singhs from jatha bhindra of sant jarnail singh jee.

When sant jee saw this young singh, not even 18 who left his home for the love of his panth, sant jee asked him to go home back to his family but bhai baljinder singh made a promise that he will never leave sant jee so sant jee had to keep him with the jatha. Sant jee asked bhai sahib to write a letter home and bhai sahib wrote in the letter that he is in chardi kala and they dont have to worry.

In the letter Bhai sahib jee also wrote he is at the right place and he has found a very nice job.

10-15 days Before 1984 bhai sahib did visit his family but stayed there only for two days and came back to darbar sahib. Finally the day came when akal purakh was going to test all singhs at darbar sahib for their sikhi sidak and bhai sahib jee were fateh in this test.

Some singh who were with bhai sahib told his mother that when the army was arresting some singhs who were also fighting at dar bar sahib but were caught and were hand cuffed and bhai sahib said it loudly to those arrested singhs"Jad Tuwahda baap da ghar tabah ho riya ha teh tusi pajj raha ho, jeh guru gobind singh deh soorma ho ta data raho" translation:"When our father's house is being destroyed and desicrated then why are you running like cowards, if you are son of guru gobind singh keep fighting till u attain shaheedi".On june 4-5 during the night time bhai sahib jee atttained shaheedi but did not leave his morcha.

Bhai sahib mother told that their house members are facing physical and financial problems and some human rights group gave them 10,000 ruppes. Bhai sahibs mother said instead of helpin them out financially the sikh kaum should remember her son as a shaheed thats all she desires not maya.

This mother sew clothes for others and runs her house.

Not that it really matters, he wasnt the youngest Shaheed, I believe the youngest where Bibi Satnam Kaur & Bibi Waheguru Kaur.

Those who read between the lines have reached the stage where Bhai Sahib ji was so, to understand the pain of SIKHI one has not to old or literate but smart chardi kala SINGH or SINGHNI with true dedication toward GURU and GURBANI.
