In Britain each December the BBC have a competition to select a Sports Personality for the Year. For 2006 I believe Monty has now done enough to be a very serious contender.

In my view he has a good chance to win the award. I can't see anyone else coming close at the moment but what will determine it will be how he does on the Ashes tour of Australia. A few weeks ago not many people gave him a chance of even being on the team for the tour but he's done so well that he's now certain of a place. The next test match against pakistan will be interesting. Pakistan will have all their best players back especially the bowlers so it will make a good match. Let's hope Monty does well in that test as well as in Australia. Baring a very bad performance he will win the award.
