as u progress in ur sprituality such songs will not appeal to you no more one would just be in love with the gurus bani..... types of music made dese days is more likely to put roadblocks in your sikhi... its the music that has got most panjabis alll drunkens , turned em in to ranjha wanabees n heers

maerae mohan sravanee eih n sunaaeae || saakath geeth naadh dhhun gaavath bolath bol ajaaeae ||1|| rehaao ||

O my fascinating Lord, may I never listen to the faithless cynic, singing his songs and tunes, and chanting his useless words. ||1||Pause||

Gurji went to bad ppl to enlighten them.... they used bani to put on track the souls who has forgotten the path of waheguru. An amritdhari gursikh is guruji's roop and should strive hard to keep up its image. To go Dj'ing in clubs is like putting oil in fire. DJ's play songs which promote, pride, ego and glorify 5 vices. It does not matter how many tacks tigerstyle released about shaheedi, as most youngsters will also see him going to clubs and it certainly does not give a good impression. Is there any track from him stressing on humility one should possess or respect. Shahidi songs are high on birras and thus most listen to feed their ego.

Now if tigerstyle could make even one soul in those clubs to relinquish that lifestyle and follow the path of guru then d_oh.gif otherwise no.gif but then noone is perfect, but i personally feel guruji's saroop should not be taken to such places.

A Sikh should live like the lotus flower, surrounded by dirt, but always seems to float above it. So it's not so much about where one goes, its about what he or she does when they go there. There is a huge gap between Sikhs who actually live a Gursikh lifestyle and the ones who dont, and no one wants to make bridges to unite the two and work together to realize what true Sikhi is.

I feel it is every Sikhs duty to go out and bring the ones who have gone off track back to Sikhi, otherwise u can keep complaining about Sikhs drinking, smoking and cutting their hair all u want, nothing is going to change.

We need to build bridges and i feel that Tigerstyle are doing just that. You dont have to follow their method or even agree with it, find out how u can bridge those huge gaps that we're all responsible for making.

This is just my opinion, sorry if i've offended anyone.

But veerji i highly doubt he does parchar in clubs... but then i know nothing about him, his jeevan and his avastha.... but its my personal opinion that one with gurujis kakkar should be setting good example. Feeding manmukhs with pure manmat is not an act of gursikh. It is sad he does that, but seeing sangat being complacent about it is worse.

There's actually two of them, they're brothers and of course they dont do prachaar in clubs. But think of it like this, if on one side they're making pointless bhangra songs and the other side they're making dharmik songs which talk about the heroic deeds of Gursikhs and the kurbanian they made, im sure that one day the same person listening to those bhangra songs will listen to the dharmik songs and possibily be inspired.

I was inspired in the same way, i regularly listened to bhangra songs (still do, just not as much) then heard some dharmik tracks (some of them being tigerstyles) that had good music and amazing lyrcis, that slowly got me more into Sikhi and made me want to become a better Sikh, as a result i cant go a day without reading Gurbani!

But then everyone has their share of flaws and noone is perfect. May guruji put right sense in every gursikh.

I understand what ur saying and ultimately no Sikh should indulge in manmat activities that take us away from Sikhi. But things have gotten so bad that we're really not left with many options, we have to unfortunately go into areas that a Sikh shouldnt have to and inspire others. It is obvious that one who finds peace at a club isnt going to find peace at a gurdwara, and one that finds peace at a gurdwara, well he doesnt need to go anywhere else to find peace, but there has to be a method to bring the ones who have fallen off track back to Sikhi.

We dont have Sikhs in the media to inspire others, and if we do, they dont even have Sikhi saroop, so that doesnt help.

So what method do we use? We cant go up to someone who doesnt have any morals or values, who drinks, smokes, cuts his or her hair and start talking about Waheguru and Sikhi, there has to be a smart approach, one that brings them closer without us preaching over them, only then will people of today be inspired.

People during our Guru's times believed in God and actually tried ways to get closer to him, it was mainly the practices (mindless rituals and superstitions) that our Guru's questioned, today people dont even believe in God, and even if they do, they dont care. So things have gotten a lot worse than they once used to be.

The question is do we need QUANTITY or QUALITY? Sikhism is not a missionary religion. Guruji went around preaching the true message of GOD, and it was left upto ppl to follow it or not. Gurudwaras, sikhs camps and likes are better place for parchar. One who has inclination to learn will find the path. Preach to someone who is intrested to learn. Someone coming to gurudwara has intention to learn whereas one in club doesnt. Moreover tigerstyle might be earning for his gigs. Parchar is to be done selflessly to be able to produce results.

On the end note, we can go on debating this forever. I dont know much about tigerstyle's jeewan and might earn sin doing his nindya here. If you were inspired by him to join sikhi then its great thing to know. Its different matter if you would pursue same approach to do parchar or not. I certainly will not. So lets hold on to u our personal beliefs and pray to guruji so that right sense can prevail.

I'm not talking about taking a missionary approach, im talking about educating and bringing those back who have fallen off.

I'm not concerned about quantity either, but im talking about those of us who complain when Sikhs are cutting their hair, drinking and smoking but really dont wanna do anything to fix this problem.

In closing, we havent discovered a method to really go out and do prachaar, the people who do prachaar and listen to it are the same people who go to gurdwara regularly and live a Gursikh lifestyle.

    • yeh it's true, we shouldn't be lazy and need to learn jhatka shikaar. It doesn't help some of grew up in surrounding areas like Slough and Southall where everyone thought it was super bad for amrit dharis to eat meat, and they were following Sant babas and jathas, and instead the Singhs should have been normalising jhatka just like the recent world war soldiers did. We are trying to rectifiy this and khalsa should learn jhatka.  But I am just writing about bhog for those that are still learning rehit. As I explained, there are all these negative influences in the panth that talk against rehit, but this shouldn't deter us from taking khanda pahul, no matter what level of rehit we are!
    • How is it going to help? The link is of a Sikh hunter. Fine, but what good does that do the lazy Sikh who ate khulla maas in a restaurant? By the way, for the OP, yes, it's against rehit to eat khulla maas.
    • Yeah, Sikhs should do bhog of food they eat. But the point of bhog is to only do bhog of food which is fit to be presented to Maharaj. It's not maryada to do bhog of khulla maas and pretend it's OK to eat. It's not. Come on, bro, you should know better than to bring this Sakhi into it. Is this Sikh in the restaurant accompanied by Guru Gobind Singh ji? Is he fighting a dharam yudh? Or is he merely filling his belly with the nearest restaurant?  Please don't make a mockery of our puratan Singhs' sacrifices by comparing them to lazy Sikhs who eat khulla maas.
    • Seriously?? The Dhadi is trying to be cute. For those who didn't get it, he said: "Some say Maharaj killed bakras (goats). Some say he cut the heads of the Panj Piyaras. The truth is that they weren't goats. It was she-goats (ਬਕਰੀਆਂ). He jhatka'd she-goats. Not he-goats." Wow. This is possibly the stupidest thing I've ever heard in relation to Sikhi.
    • Instead of a 9 inch or larger kirpan, take a smaller kirpan and put it (without gatra) inside your smaller turban and tie the turban tightly. This keeps a kirpan on your person without interfering with the massage or alarming the masseuse. I'm not talking about a trinket but rather an actual small kirpan that fits in a sheath (you'll have to search to find one). As for ahem, "problems", you could get a male masseuse. I don't know where you are, but in most places there are professional masseuses who actually know what they are doing and can really relieve your muscle pains.
