What is the actual outcome? Was he a Sikh killed by muslims {doesnt matter what race of muslims}??

Or was he a Sikh killed by Sikhs? Sounds kinda confusing so far on the thread.

This is wat i've heard (and i'm from smethwick). they lad was 18yrs old, did drugs and stuff, was an ex-singh (cut off his hair), hung aroud black lads and started a fight with some black lads and they battered him. no racial motive. you live the life of a druggie, u die the death of a druggie.

I just feel sorry for his parents. simple

I dont think ppl should gossip about a person's history, without evidence, who has murdered in such a brutal and cowardly way. It's disrespect to him and his family, plus he was a Sikh (if only by name). Here some more info

LONDON: A 19-year-old British Indian died in hospital after being attacked by a group of teenagers in Smethwick, Birmingham.

Gurdeep Singh, who died on Tuesday, was admitted to the Birmingham City Hospital with serious head injuries after being ambushed by a mob of up to 15 youths.

Gurdeep Singh was walking with a friend on Saturday when a mob suddenly attacked him and kicked and punched him mercilessly. Police have rounded up seven suspects for questioning, according to the Birmingham Mail.

"There are seven people currently in custody on suspicion of murder who are being questioned," said Paul Homer, a police official. "This investigation is now a murder inquiry," a police spokesperson told the newspaper.

The attack was so violent that it forced many motorists to stop and the police had to seal the scene of attack for almost 48 hours.

Murder victim named

A MURDER victim battered by a vicious mob was named today by police as Gurdeep Singh Mann.

The 19-year-old, from Smethwick, died yesterday afternoon.

He had been in a critical condition in Birmingham's City Hospital after being attacked by up to 15 youths on Saturday night.

Seven suspects were today being quizzed by detectives.

A 17-year-old previously arrested has been released on police bail pending further inquiries.

The seven, aged 15 to 20, were arrested in connection with the death of the teenager who was attacked in Windmill Lane, Smethwick, just before 11pm on Saturday.

He was repeatedly kicked and punched and suffered serious head injuries. A post mortem examination revealed he died of head injuries.

He had been rushed to City Hospital following the attack but he lost his fight for life yesterday afternoon and detectives launched a murder investigation.

Det Insp Paul Homer, from Smethwick CID, said: "There are seven people currently in custody on suspicion of murder who are being questioned.

"The deceased was attacked by a number of youths and, having been out trying to trace them, we now have seven people in custody."

It is thought the victim was walking with another youth when the attack took place.

The violence was so out of control that it even spilled out into the roadway, forcing horrified motorists to stop.

The scene was sealed off by police for almost 48 hours and the motive for the attack remains unknown.

Detectives are still appealing for witnesses to come forward, particularly passengers from two vehicles.

A police spokesman said: "This investigation is now a murder inquiry.

"We are still appealing for witnesses, including the drivers and passengers of a metallic green 4x4 and a dark coloured Ford."

Anyone with any information about the attack is urged to call Smethwick CID on 0845 113 5000.

I would want to know the motive of the attack most importantly. If its a hate crime, racially or religiously motived then the community wont take this lying down.

    • yeh it's true, we shouldn't be lazy and need to learn jhatka shikaar. It doesn't help some of grew up in surrounding areas like Slough and Southall where everyone thought it was super bad for amrit dharis to eat meat, and they were following Sant babas and jathas, and instead the Singhs should have been normalising jhatka just like the recent world war soldiers did. We are trying to rectifiy this and khalsa should learn jhatka.  But I am just writing about bhog for those that are still learning rehit. As I explained, there are all these negative influences in the panth that talk against rehit, but this shouldn't deter us from taking khanda pahul, no matter what level of rehit we are!
    • How is it going to help? The link is of a Sikh hunter. Fine, but what good does that do the lazy Sikh who ate khulla maas in a restaurant? By the way, for the OP, yes, it's against rehit to eat khulla maas.
    • Yeah, Sikhs should do bhog of food they eat. But the point of bhog is to only do bhog of food which is fit to be presented to Maharaj. It's not maryada to do bhog of khulla maas and pretend it's OK to eat. It's not. Come on, bro, you should know better than to bring this Sakhi into it. Is this Sikh in the restaurant accompanied by Guru Gobind Singh ji? Is he fighting a dharam yudh? Or is he merely filling his belly with the nearest restaurant?  Please don't make a mockery of our puratan Singhs' sacrifices by comparing them to lazy Sikhs who eat khulla maas.
    • Seriously?? The Dhadi is trying to be cute. For those who didn't get it, he said: "Some say Maharaj killed bakras (goats). Some say he cut the heads of the Panj Piyaras. The truth is that they weren't goats. It was she-goats (ਬਕਰੀਆਂ). He jhatka'd she-goats. Not he-goats." Wow. This is possibly the stupidest thing I've ever heard in relation to Sikhi.
    • Instead of a 9 inch or larger kirpan, take a smaller kirpan and put it (without gatra) inside your smaller turban and tie the turban tightly. This keeps a kirpan on your person without interfering with the massage or alarming the masseuse. I'm not talking about a trinket but rather an actual small kirpan that fits in a sheath (you'll have to search to find one). As for ahem, "problems", you could get a male masseuse. I don't know where you are, but in most places there are professional masseuses who actually know what they are doing and can really relieve your muscle pains.
