WJKK WJKF! I'm new to this forum so im not sure if this has already been discussed...Those of you who have been on the tapoban forum might of already read this. k..this is a question for the sangat reading this..what would you do if you have guru granth sahib at your house and you were baby sitting a neighbors 2 year old...all of a sudden the house gets flooded. :@ @ would you ......

a) Get out of the house alone and save just yourself

b) Get out of the house with the child

c) Get out of the house with guru granth sahib

*would this answer differ if it were your own child... grin.gif

I thought this is something interesting to think about! grin.gif

Personally... my answer would be b) get out of the house with the child because i know nothing could happend to guru ji... but would go back to get em n die trying pray.gif

what would you do????

FATEH!!!

hehehe..is this a question to test a person's IQ ??

You have said the house gets flooded...wht kind of flooding is this ?? Is it because of water coming from outside or some internal leakage ?? whatever the case..lets answer the question...

1. if flooding is because of some internal leakage.. thn i dont think its a big deal..u'll have enough time to take the kid and SGGS out OR you can also stay on the top most floor (if its a double storey house)

2. if flooding is from outside ( like its a FLOOD) then going out of the house wont help rolleyes.gif would it ??? its gonna be the same flood outside, GOING OUT WOULD BE STUPIDITY. again the best option would be

a) if u are in some western country, go to the top floor and you'll be safe. SGGS is always on the top floor in such houses. So no worries <_<

b) if you are in india then you always have the ROOF :D :@ ..and most of the times no one is alone at the house. so one person can carry the baby and one can carry SGGS.

As the question had many ifs .. i have replied accordingly :TH:

GUR FATEH !!

yes but i think your supposed to imagine it's a very small one story house, and a major pipe just bursts open, and the whole house starts filling up at an incredibly fast rate... ( i guess you could also open up some windows and doors, huh... <_< ) did you guys hear that when hurricane katrina happened here in america, the sri guru granth sahib was floating on top of water, untouched and unharmed at the new orleans gurudwara? pretty amazing stuff...

Its' easy to just sit on a forum and say I would do this and that, but how many of us would actually put that into practice. Time will tell when you are there. However, if I had to the child would be my first option. Jugo Jug Atal Sri Guru Granth Sahib Sache Patshah is immortal, it can never die so it doesn't matter!!!!!!!!

Gurbani is Eternal. The Guru is Eternal. Paapi's have burnt Maharaj's saroop in the past. Paapi's have placed their feet on Guru Jee to try and say they are above Gurbani. But has Guru Jee died? Did they manage to wipe out Sikhi? Could Guru Jee ever die? Answer is no.

Now, the kid would die wouldnt he..? They say children, especially babies, are "rabb da roop" as well, thanks to their innocence and recent coming into the world. Its a tricky question what is asked above, but i believe people need to look a bit deeper and realise its not about the FORM Guru Granth Sahib Jee is in more the actual teachings, Gurbani inside.

As for me, i dont know - i would try and save both and if we die in the process of saving Guru Jee, then we die. Maybe this way would be good if Maharaj lets us die such a death, that we do not have to ever die again.

Whoever dies, let him die such a death, that he does not have to die again. ||1||

    • yeh it's true, we shouldn't be lazy and need to learn jhatka shikaar. It doesn't help some of grew up in surrounding areas like Slough and Southall where everyone thought it was super bad for amrit dharis to eat meat, and they were following Sant babas and jathas, and instead the Singhs should have been normalising jhatka just like the recent world war soldiers did. We are trying to rectifiy this and khalsa should learn jhatka.  But I am just writing about bhog for those that are still learning rehit. As I explained, there are all these negative influences in the panth that talk against rehit, but this shouldn't deter us from taking khanda pahul, no matter what level of rehit we are!
    • How is it going to help? The link is of a Sikh hunter. Fine, but what good does that do the lazy Sikh who ate khulla maas in a restaurant? By the way, for the OP, yes, it's against rehit to eat khulla maas.
    • Yeah, Sikhs should do bhog of food they eat. But the point of bhog is to only do bhog of food which is fit to be presented to Maharaj. It's not maryada to do bhog of khulla maas and pretend it's OK to eat. It's not. Come on, bro, you should know better than to bring this Sakhi into it. Is this Sikh in the restaurant accompanied by Guru Gobind Singh ji? Is he fighting a dharam yudh? Or is he merely filling his belly with the nearest restaurant?  Please don't make a mockery of our puratan Singhs' sacrifices by comparing them to lazy Sikhs who eat khulla maas.
    • Seriously?? The Dhadi is trying to be cute. For those who didn't get it, he said: "Some say Maharaj killed bakras (goats). Some say he cut the heads of the Panj Piyaras. The truth is that they weren't goats. It was she-goats (ਬਕਰੀਆਂ). He jhatka'd she-goats. Not he-goats." Wow. This is possibly the stupidest thing I've ever heard in relation to Sikhi.
    • Instead of a 9 inch or larger kirpan, take a smaller kirpan and put it (without gatra) inside your smaller turban and tie the turban tightly. This keeps a kirpan on your person without interfering with the massage or alarming the masseuse. I'm not talking about a trinket but rather an actual small kirpan that fits in a sheath (you'll have to search to find one). As for ahem, "problems", you could get a male masseuse. I don't know where you are, but in most places there are professional masseuses who actually know what they are doing and can really relieve your muscle pains.
