WJKF jee,

Sadh sangat jee received a email from this singh inUK who is starting the big brother 8 show in UK. He wants educated Sikhs to take part in the auditions, maybe because of the london attacks that took place. it will help the sikhs to clear identity problems.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

My name is Harjeet Chhokar and I am working on the new series of Big Brother. We

are starting the search for our new housemates and will be holding open

auditions across the whole of the UK, throughout January and early February

2007. At this stage, we are casting our net as wide and far as possible and

letting as many different people and organistions know. It would be great if a

modern, intelligent Sikh would attend the auditions. We are really keen to

feature housemates who have a real passion for what they believe in and will

bring a lot to the house. Therefore, I was hoping that you would be so kind to

forward this message and the dates of the auditions (see attached flyer) onto

your members. It would be great if any of your members were interested and that

they could attend the auditions.

If you have any further queries, please do not hesitate to contact me on 0208

222 4618 and I'll be happy to help in any way I can.

All the best,

Harjeet.

it doesn't have to be a gurmukh, asking for a educated sikh who can explain his identity and take part in the auditions or maybe the show itself. I think its good for the sikhs to explain themselves on live television. its great idea.

i dont really think a gurmukh would be part of such a tv show... a gurmukh would not want to be in a place were their is alcohol, smoking, etc... not forgeting men that think they are females and vice versa.

ALSO ID CAUSE SOO MUCH PUNGEHH, LIKE USE TEH HOUSE MONEYS FOR BIG BOXES OFF 100PK PENS FOR NO REASON

Kumi why you so deadbrain rustic punjabi? I'd expect more from someone as colorful as yourself. What's up with the hatred of Gays? You may disagree with something, but the so called "inherent evil” is primarily a view entrenched in other religions, not sikhi.

(OK, the bait is out there, who’s going to take it?)

I dont think Kumi Ji is a Homophobe he may have just been messing!

I think! grin.gif:@

i can understand that we need to raise awareness about sikhs, but i think using Big Brother to do it is a really bad idea. the housemates in there have to do all sorts of crazy, useless and manmat things. personally i'd be embarassed if a sikh was on that programme.

the auditions that the housemates do involve them making a video of them dancing about and stuff (basically making a fool of themselves).

and what about amritvela? that would go right out the window in there. they sleep late, get up late, and half the time they sleep together.

and um...if we're going on the show to say that smoking and drinking is stupid, they definately won't let us on it.

the things which are integral to sikhi like nitnem/bhagti don't tie in with shows like Big Brother. i agree that we need to get on TV more in order to raise awareness, but please not Big Brother. there are hundreds of other options!
