Vaahegurooo jee

I saw this post on www.akj.org,and i thought it was interesting and decided to post it here.....

" Waheguroo Je Kha Khalsa, Waheguroo Je Ke Fateh:

I recently had a conversation with a fellow Sikh about the spiritual significance of Harmandir Sahib (aka The Golden Temple), and the City of Amritsar as a whole.

I was always under the impression that the Golden Temple was in fact, Sikhism’s "most holiest shrine." Now that I think about it, I have to wonder why that is, and moreover if there is any truth to this to begin with?

He said it's not any more important or less important than any other place of worship that the Sikhs have. This begs the question then as to what spiritual significance does the Golden Temple play in our faith? Why is it made out to be so "special?" I mean sure its pretty to look at it, but is there a deeper meaning behind it all?

Similarly, if it is THE most holiest shrine, does that then make Amritsar a holy city for the Sikhs like Mecca is for Muslims?

I could really use your insights, as we both were perplexed by this topic.

Thanking you in advance for your well thought out and articulate responses. :0)

Sadh sangat ji..please share your thoughts on this..i also wonder this..

The most holiest shrine resides within that mind which is dwelling on naam continuously.. that mind where the sarovar of sri guru ram das ji resides - where amrit is the naam which resonates from within. You don't need to go anywhere to find naam, because it lies within. We should see sri harimandar sahib as a physical example of what that naam should be like and create that sarovar of sri guru ram das ji within us. That temple of peace and humility and unconditional love.

Sat Sri Akal:

Where the Guru Granth Sahib resides, where the Nishan Sahib flies high and where sadh sangat is immersed in Gurbani is the holiest of places.

Why is Amritsar considered so important? It was the fist Gurudwara built. Next to it is the Akal Thakat.

There was an article about the historical importance of were Darbar Sahib is built (I think by Sardar Kapur Singh, but not too sure). It is rumored to be at a place that a lot of spiritual events in history took place there.

Harmandar Sahib is the Sargun saroop of whats inside. It is the holiest. There is no Sikhi, if you are not going to accept Harmandar Sahib as the most significant.

I dont agree with AKJ guy. Toooo mamy westernized sikhs cannot think and reason with bairaag, only thinking using brains & logic.

why all the Gurus, Bhagats, Peer, Pegambars were born on this part of the land? Why not in Europe or UK? Think & tell me.

Okay.

Dude just as Sikhi saroop wich is kesh is integral part of Sikhi. The same way Harmandar Sahib, Amritsar, Punjab is an inseparable part of Sikhi.

Some of the ppl here born and brought up in Uk, Canada. Do not understand it at all. There is a generation gap. A culture gap and they dont have the same emotional bhavana.

Guru Ram Dass founded that site. Guru RAM DASS LIVES THERE. Yes Guru is everywhere, all prevading. But Harmandar sahib is inseprable.

There would be no Sikhi, without Harmandar Sahib (Bhul chuk for even thinking this).

Read Sant Maskeen Ji’s katha. Devi devtas goto Harmandar Sahib.
