have someone older thn you talk to ur P.E. teacher! he can't threatn u like that!

it could be that he is just worried about the safety of the other students and/or his! while u working out or playing etc kara can hurt someone so try to see it from his perspective as well. really dont argue with him...it will only lead to problems. his ego will be hurt...and we all know how much trouble that can cause grin.gif

so really have someone respected talk to him about it (over the phone or just in person). if that doesn't solve the problem then talk to the head of the department or principl of the school. im assuming u are in high school :)

Thinking it over, I feel that a kara in gym class, where you do vigorous activities in some cases, could possibly slide off your hand and hit someone, or it could accidentally hurt them while on your hand. That's why at a lot of fitness centers say not to wear any jewelry while using equipment.

I can see where he is coming from even if a kara is hardly jewelry. He is just worried about the school getting sued.

Yes I agree with all of you, but instead of asking me to take my karra off he threatened 2 take me 2 court or fail me, i have tried looking at it his way as well but it makes no sense my karra is blunt & thin n even if it hits sumone it wont even leave a mark our karra's arent that dangerous.

So my parents were told 2 take a copy of the kakkars & there meanings & have a meeting with the skool.

But our karra is our rehat just lyk our kesh, 2 us taking off our karra is lyk taking of our pagh or dastaar.

Thanks 4 ur helpfull coments

1. WHERE ARE YOU?!!! which country, city?

2. Who witnessed this conversation? Write down their names. Are they supportive and willing to confirm what the teacher said, if so ask them to INDEPENDENTLY write a detailed statement as to their recollection.

3. You write down a detailed statement immediately as to what took place.

TELL US WHERE YOU ARE!

why don't you just get a wrist band..and slip the karra under that...that way your teacher will be more comfortable with it not hurting anyone..

if you wear a dastaar ...you could do what i used to so and just take it off when you're changing for gym and put it in your dastaar...this was for when we had to play contact sports...

Your P.E. teacher feels evidently threatened himself / herself and that may be the reason behind the threat to you. Your teacher can, in no possible manner, harm you in any way. Be rest assured. DO NOT FEEL THREATENED.

To put your teacher's anxiety to rest, you could try wearing a wrist band over the kara so that while Gym-ing.. no gets hurt.

    • yeh it's true, we shouldn't be lazy and need to learn jhatka shikaar. It doesn't help some of grew up in surrounding areas like Slough and Southall where everyone thought it was super bad for amrit dharis to eat meat, and they were following Sant babas and jathas, and instead the Singhs should have been normalising jhatka just like the recent world war soldiers did. We are trying to rectifiy this and khalsa should learn jhatka.  But I am just writing about bhog for those that are still learning rehit. As I explained, there are all these negative influences in the panth that talk against rehit, but this shouldn't deter us from taking khanda pahul, no matter what level of rehit we are!
    • How is it going to help? The link is of a Sikh hunter. Fine, but what good does that do the lazy Sikh who ate khulla maas in a restaurant? By the way, for the OP, yes, it's against rehit to eat khulla maas.
    • Yeah, Sikhs should do bhog of food they eat. But the point of bhog is to only do bhog of food which is fit to be presented to Maharaj. It's not maryada to do bhog of khulla maas and pretend it's OK to eat. It's not. Come on, bro, you should know better than to bring this Sakhi into it. Is this Sikh in the restaurant accompanied by Guru Gobind Singh ji? Is he fighting a dharam yudh? Or is he merely filling his belly with the nearest restaurant?  Please don't make a mockery of our puratan Singhs' sacrifices by comparing them to lazy Sikhs who eat khulla maas.
    • Seriously?? The Dhadi is trying to be cute. For those who didn't get it, he said: "Some say Maharaj killed bakras (goats). Some say he cut the heads of the Panj Piyaras. The truth is that they weren't goats. It was she-goats (ਬਕਰੀਆਂ). He jhatka'd she-goats. Not he-goats." Wow. This is possibly the stupidest thing I've ever heard in relation to Sikhi.
    • Instead of a 9 inch or larger kirpan, take a smaller kirpan and put it (without gatra) inside your smaller turban and tie the turban tightly. This keeps a kirpan on your person without interfering with the massage or alarming the masseuse. I'm not talking about a trinket but rather an actual small kirpan that fits in a sheath (you'll have to search to find one). As for ahem, "problems", you could get a male masseuse. I don't know where you are, but in most places there are professional masseuses who actually know what they are doing and can really relieve your muscle pains.
