i just heard in the news it would be very good to wait 2 minutes after u give birth before you cut the umbilical cord instead of doin it right away like they always have. this would get more blood etc through to the baby so it'll turn out better and smarter. lol i wish my mom did that for me too

In all the commotion of the labour, that's the last thing you will be thinking about!

PLEASE DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH FOR YOUR OWN CHILD WHEN IT COMES OT MATTERS LIKE THIS

when i saw the news about this i was like "cool", but the things that can go wrong aren't anyhting to laugh at.. It may be more valuable to find a middle ground... usually the umbilical cord is cut within 2 or 3 seconds of birth... 2 minutes is a lot of time, and if you raed many of the articles (i.e news.google.com), there are some interesting side effects should you wait TOO long:

The practice of immediate cord cutting is also done to lower the chance of polycythemia- a condition in which the number of red blood cells increases making the blood thicker and less likely to flow properly throughout the baby.

but yeah, the beneftis to waiting are big too.. more red blood cells to carry oxygen...higher iron count (especially important for girls), lower risk of anemia.... but please do the correct research!
