*ardaas And Hukamnama*

Recommended Posts

waheguru jee ka khalsa, waheguru jee kee fateh

we always thought that one hukamnama should be taken each day.

recently there was a bit of a disagreement

we were told that we must take a NEW hukamnama after each full ardaas.

this would mean a hukamnama after parkaash, and a new hukamnama before sukhasan. which is it?

According to how we learned it in Santhiya class, the hukamnama should be the same throughout the day. It should be the shabad in the top left hand corner - if the shabad starts on the previous ang, then you turn it back an ang. Before Sukhasan you read the same hukam.

Sikhs have enough trouble trying to follow one hukam a day - imagine trying to follow two!

It's two...

One in the morning, and then one in the evening/night.

Sri Rehras Sahib, Kirtan, Katha/Kirtan, Ardas, Hukumnama, Kirtan/Katha, Kirtan Sohila.

if you want a hukum "for the day" only once, right after parkaash.

but a hukum for personal problems/reasons can be as many times as one does ardaas

According to Damdami Taksal Maryada in Gurbani Paath Darsan by Sant Baba Gurbachan Singh Ji Khalsa Bhindrawale, the Hukamnama for the morning should be taken from the 1st Shabad on the left ang and the evening Hukamnama should be from the last shabad on the right ang.
