Why do people refer to God as He, Him, Etc???

Is it cus the male species is the dominate species??

But you are right. We should refer to Maharaj as Maharaj. He is derived from Christianity, who have the belief that God is He.

i think its to do with when translating to english we are brought up to call god a he.........i think ......but in gurmukhi the gurmantar isnt a male or female word.........i think

We should avoid using He for God. Use Guru Ji, Waheguru, They, them instead.

this basically unifies all of us under one gender (spiritually-doesnt it?)

coz obviously were nothing compared to Waheguru, so the bride is like nothing compared to the husband

Husband lord and soul bride, as Papi veer calls em, are just figures of speech.

I am not sure why this was used but all i can think of is during puratan times it was husband the sole bread winner of the family and the bride would follow what her said/did. So the comparison. Correct me if i am wrong.

i heard some katha on vaheguru-husband and us the soul brides i'll try and find it later.

and also in gurbani vaheguru is refered to in male terms. as in vaheguru 'karda' not 'kardi' or 'dhedha' deh ladhe thak pahe, jin(e) upaee mednee soee karda sar etc.

so it's not to do with translation or anything.
