Jooth

The jhoot concept is pretty hard to convey as it seems totally alien to most weterners and they do not see what all the fuss is about. Once you get into all the 'contaminated' food and we are not allowed to touch/eat it it does start to sound a little elitist, what can one do?

i am really curious to know what exactly is "contaminated" food according to sikhi. Something for all of us to ponder upon.

bundha, man, i thought i was havin a deja vu, how many more times are you going to post. i think you got your point across :@

i think what these guys have suggested is probably the closest there is.

or you could pretend to be, what is it a compulsive or something. i'm sure there's a word for it so there's no chance of you eating jooth and people will be more understanding as well *sigh* :umm: rolleyes.gif

I think when reffering to it conversation people usually say 'i don't want to eat his germs'...

So germs I guess but only in certain context.

hahah i just imagined the "eating of germs" and found it amusing.

Salok, First Mehla:

If one accepts the concept of impurity, then there is impurity everywhere.

In cow-dung and wood there are worms.

As many as are the grains of corn, none is without life.

First, there is life in the water, by which everything else is made green.

How can it be protected from impurity? It touches our own kitchen.

O Nanak, impurity cannot be removed in this way; it is washed away only by spiritual wisdom. ||1||
