"16 Ruppees badlay assey apney jaan vaech diteey angreejaa nuh but assey apna dharam nahey veecheeya" said 90 year old world war sikh veteran Nazar Singh.

"Back in war days, We sold ourself for Rs16/month but we never sold our religion by accepting helmets" that was his quote when i asked him about helmet and turban situation in British/Indian Army during world wars.... Nazar singh and his buddies were told to replace turbans with helmet BUT they straight forward refused to do so and were given harsh punishments (unknown to many historians)..

No helmets ! Don't play if it makes you to bend sikh religious way of life :@

I suggest play dude play................y shud Sikhi stop you from doing what is perfectly Normal ..

I suggest tie a pony tail and then cover the head up with a Bandana and then wear the helmet....exactly the way MONTY Panesar does...thats the perfect way of doing it.

Happy Playing.

Our grandfathers (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nV629DaLErI) dodged bullets with bravery without helmets and here we are making fuss of wearing helmet for cricket game? As majority of us will not agree with the idea of pony tail... as it has no place in our kaum. It's upto individual to decide whether to wear helmet or not.. but according to sikhi helmets are big NO.

Unnecessary bravery

I've seen the most immature replies in this thread, honestly. "Our grandfathers did this, they did that" You know what? Our grandfathers did A LOT of things that we wouldn't do today. They did the best they could, based on what they knew and what they had available to them.

Now we have seatbelts, airbags, covid masks, hand sanitizer, glasses, mobile phones and if our "grandfathers" had these available to them I'd like to think they would be wise enough to make use of them.

Cricket

During cricket adjust your hair/kes in a way which allows you to wear a helmet and enjoy your life within a safe boundary.

Don't be a hero, don't get brain damage and don't lose an eye being influence by what an internet martyr is suggesting. A 5.75 ounce cricket ball doesn't care if you're the president of some far dystopian universe, if it hits you in the face you could be facing life long consequences. Guru Nanak wants you to live and enjoy his beautiful kirtan not in a hospital.
