are you allowed to go to the gurudwara when ur on your period? :s

if not, how comes?

waheguru ji......it depends on every individual..........if you feel like going you can, if you don't feel comfortable at your own level, then don't go............it's all about love......... how much conscious you are about "sucham" depends on your love and aatmik awastha.........

So a person having a period is not ""sucham" enough to go to the gurudwara?

And the love for Waheguru diminishes when the person has a period, eh?

What a great "aatmik awastha" to have such great thoughts.

1. Reality is this:-

In olden times, when there were no wispers or Pads(for Periods), Women used to keep a plain cotten cloth or sometimes nothing; Which leads to No suchmata.

Now, due to Lifestyle advancement, WOmen are keeping cleaniness and are using pads too; which keeps the situation undercontrol.

so, even today there are many women(SIkhs) who go to gurudwara and do Naam jaap but donot do any seva when they are Menstruating.

There is even one sakhi in suraj Parkas Granth(read it long back...could not remember the exact details) where One Woman was not allowed to enter in Maharaj ji's Room bcz She was menstruating.

fact is, when we are doing anyhting, paat, seva, naam simran, or whatever, we hav to be stable. the body can be split into 3 main catagories... 1. mental 2. emotional and 3. physical. these 3, effect the 4th... the spiritual.. which thus have an effect on the 5th, Social / surroundings / things around you.

we have to be stable in the 1st 3 things 1st, to be able to do anything to its fullest. hence, the physical changeing in the cycle is past 'the threshold' of change, so it will effect ur spiritual. fact, we are to control all the 1st 3 things. thas y our spirit increases.

aaaaand, yes, everything is changing all the time.. emotions and mind included.. but it is in the threshold... >>>>>e.g. sum1z going thru probz. they are taking daal etc to people. they will make a mistake.. they wont be able to concentrate on the seva / the naam simran they shud be doing. hence, cant do the seva properly..<<<<<< as an e.g..

this is the main reason. control, stability and completeness in the 3 catagories (which can be sub diveded alot more things!) that make us (minus the spiritual).

waheguru ji.....read the post again........where did I say "person having a period is not ""sucham" enough to go to the gurudwara" and "the love for Waheguru diminishes when the person has a period," ??????????

You have misunderstood the post.........Let me clear it.......it's every person's own will......nobody can force her to go or the other way..........everyone has a connection with God or Guru Sahib at their own individual level, and it depends on her connection, love and shardha how she wants to deal with it........it's only and only her own choice........External things have nothing to do with the inside thing........

I'll share a sakhi, from "Sukhmani Sahib diyan Visheshtayiaan" by Bhai GurIqbal Singh ji Kaulsarwale,,,I'll make it short....

There was a Hindu Seth who used to do Sukhmani sahib ji's path with "nem". He had a servant who got sick, do all his external stuff on the bed........One dat when Seth before doing path, asked the servant if he need anything as he has to do path. Servant said no and seth started doing path. While doing path, he realized that the servant has passed away. After doing the rituals, one thought kept bothering him that this man had died in such miserable condition, how would he get mukti, isda bhala kiwein hou.......then one night in his dreams servant came and said to him that he should not worry about him and he (the servant) has got place in Sachkhand because he was listening to the path during his last breath. This relieved the burden from Seths mind and he was happy.

Hope this makes my point clear. No further arguments or debates.

If you could find this saakhi can you share it with the sangat? I would like to know the circumstances surrounding this saakhi.

  • 2 weeks later...

to be as blunt as possible have a bath and change your whatever clothes and then go to the gurdwara. Don't stop going to the gurdwara otherwise a few days each month you wont be able to go.

And if you just do some crap in your pants you would not go to amritshak or do certain sewa so don't do it while you are on your periods. It is common sense isnt it?

Most women know when they are about to begin so do your sewa then.

'Crap in your pants'? Not exactly the same thing as menstruation. IMHO this is quite an ignorant view.
