Fresh apology, this time to Sikhs

Tribune News Service

Chandigarh/Mohali, June 20

In what could defuse tension and soothe frayed nerves in the North India, especially Punjab, chief of Dera Sacha Sauda Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh today issued a fresh apology. Now, he has apologised for his actions to the entire Sikh community.

It comes on a day when a court issued an arrest warrant against the dera chief for allegedly hurting the Sikh community's sentiments.

A copy of the letter was delivered by a special emissary of the Dera Sacha Sauda to chief of Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee P.S. Sarna, who, in turn, has handed it over to SGPC chief Avtar Singh Makkar here today for acceptance of the Sikh high priests. Makkar said the letter had been received, however, he refused to comment, saying that only jathedar of the Akal Takht Joginder Singh Vedanti would comment on it. Makkar and Sarna addressed a joint press conference at Mohali here tonight.

It had been decided that a 10-member committee would be formed to iron out differences between the sect and the Sikh community, said Sarna. It would have five members each from among the Sikhs and followers of the sect. The choice of five members of the Sikhs had been left to Sikh high priests.

Sources said an MLA from Punjab, a dera emissary and a senior intelligence official were present when Sarna provided the information about the breakthrough in the deadlock.

Sarna told The Tribune that the apology letter was signed by the dera and it should not have any problems in being accepted. He revealed that the DSGMC was working behind the scene to persuade the dera chief to see reason. A meeting of the Khalsa Action Committee was held tonight to decide on the further course of action. Various Sikh organisations was mounting pressure on the Punjab government asking it to arrest the dera chief and a case was registered against him on May 20 for "hurting the religious sentiments" of the Sikhs.

Sant Samaj - Supposed to be a group of so called Sants lol ,they're a joke, what are they going to achieve bakreeyah vangu begging - if Sant Bhindranwale was here then the govt would know what messing with the Khalsa means, even after 1984 and numerous genocides these fools still beg the Govt, they just want to be popular- clowns.we are in the same war since 1984 why the need to still beg even after Akal Thakt was blow up our nation wiped out? - Sant Samaj has a lot of jokers in it,why create a group of Sants ,they all holy ? LOL

They are not only a joke but some of them are themselves running "deras" though in the name of Sikhi .How can we expect such "Sants" to go outrightly against Sirsa dera as they know that next it might the turn of their own deras to be closed by the Sikh sangat .

In case this happens then how will they be able to pocket sangat's money including thousands of dollars from abroad .Some of these "Sants" rely on singing "dhaarnas" and not genuine Gurbani in their ashrams/deras.It is shame that many "amritdharis" are seen sitting in the feet of these "Sants" .

Not only this some of these Sants of Sant Samaj have themselves been behaving dubiously equating themselves with Gurus and making the sangat including amritdharis bowing in front of them .Such Sants were never called to Akal Takht to explain their conduct .

Which Guru Granth Sahib are these so called Amritdharis following when they bow before these "mahapurush" .Isnt every Sikh told to bow in front of only Guru Granth Sahib and no one else ?

Some of the members of sikhsangat.com will themselves be seen sitting at the feet of these "Sants" in a few days during their overseas visits .

Now these very "Sants" and their so called "amritdhari" chelas have been chiding against dera sirsa "premis" on the top of their voices .

In a recent incidence when some dera "premis" were being given siropas near Bathinda upon re joining the Sikh panth, the dera "premis" told the Sikhs present there to not only to give them Siropas but also Amrit.Such people who have realised their mistake after following the Sirsa dera for so many years and have now themselves willingly(Im not talking about those premis who have left sirsa dera due to some "majboori") become Amritdharis will in the long run turn up to be better Sikhs than the so called SGPC Sikhs .I may be wrong but I have such a feeling .

God knows what "Khichdi" these so called Panthic leaders like Sarna,Rode and Makkar are preparing with the very same sect whom they were abusing a few days back .

Any way the Sikh sangat is watching all of them carefully .

So far only Bhai Daljit Singh Bittu has stood by his stand from beginning till now.Is this a plan by badal daliyas to marginalise Bhai Bittu ?

Sarna,Rode and Makkar met at the residence of Mohali SSP R.S.Khatra who recently claimed that mohali police had nabbed former Bhindarawale Tiger Force (BTF) militant Sangat Singh Bawani's son Gurcharan Singh Kala and his accomplice Sawranjit Singh Bobby, a local leader, for planning to kill Bhaniarawala and forming a Khalsa Action Committee for the purpose.

The police claimed that Bobby and Kala met in the high security Nabha jail where they were pursuaded by Daljit Singh Bittu, Balbir Singh Beera and Gursharan Singh Gama, associated with Kala's father, to eliminate anti Sikh Bhaniarawala.

The role of so called Sant Samaj and SSF(Grewal) has scope for suspicion also .Sant Samaj started their march towards Chandigarh from Fatehgarh Sahib by singing dhaarnas that they will fight till the last drop of their blood but could not sit on dharna eveni till evening at Mohali .

The Sikh Students Federation(Grewal) headed by Gurcharn Singh Grewal has always supported badal dal unconditionally .Just till day before yesterday Grewal was talking about "Dilli Hilao" rally on the dera sirsa issue .Just 2 days back Grewal and his gang were in Delhi campaigning for the "Dilli Halao" rally to be organised on June 22,2007.But now we are hearing that the "Dilli Hilao" rally has been postponed .

Now how much strength the SSF(Grewal) has is unknown but we do know that their are many mona members in SSF(Grewal). Not only this it is known that most of the members of SSF(Grewal) are not students but are in fact old people .The "students" of the SSF(Grewal) were amongst the gangs who beat up SAD(Amritsar) leaders in Ludhiana before the Punjab elections .

The reason why this "Dilli Hilao" rally or rather gathering was postponed is not known but I personally feel that it was only a publicity stunt and had the gathering been held the true strength(numbers) of SSF(Grewal) which is mainly in Ludhiana city would have been exposed in front of the Sikh sangat.

badal daliyas should realise that if the Sikh sangat turns against them then nobody can save them.

Interim bail for dera chief

Tribune News Service

Chandigarh, June 29

Even as the Punjab government has upped the ante on the Dera issue by granting sanction to prosecute and arrest Dera Sacha Sauda chief Sant Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, the Punjab and Haryana High Court today came to the rescue of the beleaguered Sant by granting him interim bail and also issued a notice of motion to Punjab for August 6.

Justice L.N. Mittal stated in his order, following a petition by the Dera chief that he be granted anticipatory bail, that “the petitioner (Dera chief), if arrested, shall be released on interim bail to the satisfaction of the arresting officer subject to conditions specified in Section 438(2) of the Code of Criminal Procedure. The petitioner shall also surrender his passport before the arresting officer”.

An FIR bearing No 262, dated May 20, under Section 295-A IPC was lodged against the dera chief at Police Station Kotwali, Bathinda, by Rajinder Singh Sidhu who claimed himself to be the president of Khalsa Diwan Guru Singh Sabha, Bathinda.

Following the registration of the FIR, the Punjab Police had obtained non-bailable production warrants against the dera chief from a Bathinda court and sought the permission of the Punjab government, as directed by the court, to arrest and start prosecution of Sant Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh.

It was alleged in the FIR that advertisements had appeared in newspapers on May 13 showing Sant Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh in a dress similar to the one worn by the tenth Sikh Guru Sri Guru Gobind Singh. A ritual starkly similar to the Sikh baptisation ceremony was also allegedly performed by the Dera chief.

Strongly questioning the veracity of the FIR, the petitioner’s counsel submitted that the complaint was politically motivated and frivolous. It was stressed that no offence under Section 295-A IPC could be made out from the contents of the FIR.

He also averred that the petitioner had never imitated or tried to act like Guru Gobind Singh and, moreover, had apologised twice to assuage the hurt feelings of the Sikh community.

Hammering on the good Samaritan image of the dera, the petitioner’s counsel averred that the Dera’s name had found place in the Guinness Book of World Records as well as the Limca Book of Records for blood donation. The dera also organised spiritual santsangs and was engaged in various noble causes.

Touching upon the philosophical moorings of the Dera, counsel further submitted that whole spiritual edifice of the Dera was built upon the theme “Only God is worth praise who is known by various names”. The petitioner’s counsel averred that the furore had political genesis, as some news reports had suggested, and that the dera was being hounded for its reported support to the Congress.
