The term "East Indian" applies to those Indians coming from India while "West Indians" applies to those Indians coming from the Caribbean. "East Indian" is a North America term for South Asians.

I personally classify myself as a Canadian only. I am not big fan of India so I don't like to be stated as an Indian at all.

I dont mean to sound funny or hate filled, but what does get on my nerves is how in the news, when a muslim does something bad, they will say that "an 'asian' did this", when a muslim does somthing good, they will say oh a "muslim did...", when a brown non-muslim does summin good they have to go and say "an asian...", the term asian nowadays has just turned into something which benefits the muslims. (im talking about the uk)

I think using the term 'Asian' is just an ignorant way of lumping a lot of people together who often have little in common.
