Classic example: Guru Nanak who disobeyed his father several times to do what was right. :umm:

Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa! Vaheguru Ji Ke Fateh!

No offence but i dont think you should have used that example on this forum :umm:

Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa! Vaheguru Ji Ke Fateh!

Why not? The truth will prevail.

If anyone wants to take it the wrong way, then that's their problemo. What matters is the truth and the intention behind the words.

Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa!

Waheguroo jee kee Fateh!

But at the same time, don't forget to stand up for what's right... you must respect your parents, but you don't always have to follow them if they are wrong.

Classic example: Guru Nanak who disobeyed his father several times to do what was right. :umm:

Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa!

Waheguroo jee kee Fateh!

ok.. lets carry on this arguement :umm:

a) We are not Guru Nanak who *knows* what is right and wrong

b) He did disobey but he didn't disrespect. He got slapped by his father for doing "wrong" but Guru ji took it as a son

c) Guru Nanak Dev Ji had the duty to save the world from Kal.. what missions have we got?

Yes, we know that Guru Ji says that everything, including family, is false etc..

..But think about Khalsa. Would the image of a rebellious disobeying child who disrespects their parents be appropriate?

I think to be good towards your parents: you got to remember that:

- If it wasen't for them you wouldn't be here (obviously)

- They KNOW EVERYTHING - they been through and done everything we do

- You too will be a parent one day - Karma and all that

I don't know if this fits here or not but my Nani always taught me this:

Maa Pur Dhee, Pitha Pur Ghora, Bo'htha Nee Th'ah Tho'hra Tho'hra

thats basically saying that a girl is always like her mother, and a son is always like his father - if not lots - always a little bit

So however you are with your parents, children are bound to do the same to you.

loll i think i confused it there but hope u get me

Its guru jis kirpa that a baby gets born , not the mother and father

yeah but still its with his parents help that he grew up 2 how he is now.

in my opinion,

interact / behave with others in the same fashion as u like others to interact / behave with you

"being good" is the object which changes look from every angle

one can't define it for others from his own point of view

no offence aimed, peace
