Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa!

Waheguroo jee kee Fateh!

It doesn't matter what we MEAN... its what we SAY that people quote us on. This entire debacle is completely our fault. We allow people to get up and say stuff like that, and then we stay quiet when they say it. What does the media think? They didn't "invent" any thing, they didn't make up the footage, they didn't create those floats, and they certainly didn't wander over there without being invited by the community.

If we were smart enough, we would clean up our act before inviting the media, because when they are there, they are going to report on what they see. If they see khalistan banners, pictures of guns and members of BKI (a terrorist organization in canada), what conclusion are they going to draw? What difference are we in comparison to the footage that they get from palistine? What else CAN they say?

Its up to US to fix this problem. Or at least don't invite every politician and media personality you can think of until the problem is solved.

OTTAWA, July 4

The World Sikh Organization (WSO) recognizes the distress and disappointment felt by the Sikh community following the broadcast of the documentary "Samosa Politics" on CBC Television's The National on Thursday June 28, 2007.

At a time when Sikh Canadians celebrate their Canadian citizenship along-side fellow citizens of every profession, race, culture and creed, it is disheartening to see that one of Canada's most respected Crown Corporations has aired a documentary which so grievously hurt the Sikh community with its factual errors and misrepresentations. Over the Canada

Day weekend, the WSO received hundreds of emails and phone calls from discouraged and frustrated Sikh Canadians who are appalled at the inaccurate, imbalanced and negative media portrayal of the Sikh community.

We assure the Canadian public, and Sikh Canadians in particular, that the WSO has and will continue to protect the interests of the Sikh community in every way possible. While the negative reaction to "Samosa Politics" is understandable and justified, the WSO insists that the community's response must be calm, carefully considered and constructive.

The Canadian Sikh community is looking to the WSO to take the lead in redressing the wrong that has been committed and we pledge that every effort will be made to set the record straight and see that the truth comes to light.

The Sikh community has faced many struggles over its 100 years of history in Canada, and we will continue to overcome them with grace and dignity.

As an organization that has opened its doors wide to all Canadians, supporting non-Sikh faiths in their similar struggles for understanding and perspective, the WSO calls upon all Canadians to challenge the misconceptions being created about the Sikh community. We must all work together to ensure that Canada remains an open and welcoming place for people of all backgrounds and no community is unfairly maligned.

Stop wearing your kirpaan too, it's a weapon and might offend some people. We should stop wearing BaaNaa as well, some people might think something wrong about us. Stop placing Shastars before Guroo Sahib Jee. Get rid of the Khand Insignia, its the main symbol of Sikhs, and its made up of all weapons. Where exactly are we going to draw the line?

What's wrong with Khalistan banners; the Panth declared Khalistan's independance, the Sikh Nation demands Khalistan and there is nothing wrong with that.

What's wrong with guns? They're Shastars. Jithay Shastar Naaman(g) Namaskaar Thaaman(g), JITHAY ASTHAR BHAYAN(G) NAMASKAAR DAYAN(G)...

This is the saddest part, we shouldn't display pictures of our Mahaan Shaheeds? These Singhs DIED, for US. They gave everything they had, they sacrificed their families, their lives for the PANTH. And we repay them by being ASHAMED!? That's pathetic.

People will always try to make the Khalsa look bad, people have always done it, people are doing it, and they probably will continue. But that does NOT mean we forget our identity and our Shaheeds.

I agree, that steps should be taken to educate people so that they understand what all this stuff is, BUT we do NOT need to abandon our principles...

I truely believe that these politicians should not be invited to the Gurdwara to do speaches, all they do is shamelessly come fishing for votes, non of the politicians ever mention their policies, or what they can offer the Sikh community, all they do is say a 5 minutes prepared choice of punjabi words and sikh phrases and then they are off. The next week you'll have an opposing party member on the stage again fishin for votes. The Gurdwara is a spiritual place, not a battleground for local politicians.

What ever Bagri said that day about killing 50000 Hindu's was ridiculous comment to make. No one should really eb defending him for making that comment. As were humans, we all make mistakes!!
