Perhaps Mr Ujjal Dosanjh would like to press for a ban on white supremist terrorist groups in all. To my knowledge Sikh seperatist groups have no interest in harming canada or canadians, their beef is not with canada or western countries. They are fighting for their right to self determination with option of armed resistance against forces occupying their homeland (punjab/khalistan) against Indian unionist armed forces.

I regularly see pictures of white supremist nazi groups holding weapons on canadian and american soil on sites like stormfront.org and other race hating sites. Why arent they banned? surely they pose more of a threat to the internal secruity of a western country than any ethnic/religious seperatist groups who are fighting a war away from the host western country.

this dosang guy, looks for excuses to defame sikhs but on a same token what you expect when our soo called leaders put talwinder singh parmar who was nothing but either fanatic with terrorist intent or Goi agent according to soft target held him as "matyr".

Next time peace of advise, dont let these commitee members who have twisted attitude of (one man terrorist is other man freedom fighter) represent sikhs in mainstream.

Namastang Jee, Could you back ur points up on how Talvinder Singh was a Indian Govt Agent?

Thank you jeeo

You can read soft target book regarding some of shocking revealtions on talvinder singh parmar, ie- bhai fauja singh ji's wife accused him for hijacking the peaceful movement. Soft target book has became such a reliable source for sikhs these days, oh off course people who sympathize with babbar will brush shady areas in parmar and malik's life they are pretty quick to use this book as reference yet hesitant to discuss some of fine issues in there because it challenges their beleif, they - panthic weekly guys quoting only stuff from there which suits their agenda, quote stuff on talvinder singh parmar from that book they wont because obviously that stuff is unreliable, same typical home made cook recipe articles just pick and chooose..that just shows their crediblity.

If you want to quote from the book- soft target, atleast read it fully. Our sikh soo called leaders jump on the bandwagon quoting from this book-soft target right, left and center yet hold double standards supporting certain self-proclaimed khalistani figures which this book clearly bought fwd how shady some area in lifes really were. !

read this book draw your own conculstions from it, check the index - and look for talvinder singh parmar- read the pages talk about him, atleast do something productive which is read this book throughly instead of parroting other speeches on how high and mighty this book really is and yet hold double standards regarding certain self-proclaimed khalistani figures which the same book criticize.

anyway here is the download link to download the book:

enjoy !

Support of contoversial figures like talvinder singh parmar, malik, bagri, reyat should be avoided at all costs, lets just put your jatha behind for one second please, and represent khalsa panth. If you honestly weigh talvinder singh parmar with shaheedi(martyrdom) concept laid down by our 5th sri guru arjan dev ji. He is far from being an "shaheed".

According to the Soft Target book:

1. How do you explain state bank of india giving malik 2 million dollar at the same time accuse him and his freinds being khalistani fanatics?

2.How do you explain talvinder singh parmar demanding for 500 dollars out of nowhere by inviting all the innocent people for their "chardi-kalah simran session" at 5 am?????

3. How do you explain real shaheed bhai fauja singh ji;s wife accusing parmar for hijacking the movement?

4. how do you explain parmar wealth in short little time to buy houses in cash in one of richest area in BC? where is that money come from?

5. how do you explain parmar one hand- fully denying his involvement killing police officers to the authorities and in the gurdwara bragging how he killed police officers in the india? i m sure your chardi-kalah, farladhari maha shaheed gurmukh find lying obviously ok ?

i suggest you look into these points with open mind instead of same putting your jatha and jatha leaders first infront of sikhi/khalsa ethical/ moral views and dharam yudh maryada.

To equate/ give him label of shaheedi is maha beadhi its in fact it bring the downs defination of shaheedi which sri guru arjan dev ji showed us pratically..these days shaheedi word itself gets over used and abused just like any other labels like- sant, bhramgyan's, scholars.

book great or not, its besides that point, that point being when media accused sikh extermist you will see many sikhs including singhs from akj check articles on panthic.org using soft target as reference..what a double standard. either you find this book reliable or you dont, dont be in the middle do half arse job quoting same parts from the book and leave the rest, and not quote parts from the book to "cover up" kartuta of soo called mahan param yogs shaheed (sarcasm) or chardi-kalah singhs (sarcasm) who were acquitted.

Well i'm not a akj person whatsoever. But some elders who had interaction with Talvinder Singh speak quite fondly of him.

much as i like to believe the conspiracies of the mahan Soft Target book, the words of these elders seem to over ride.

I am looking at it by neutral point of view and i still don't understand.. To me i get to the point that its most likely ppl who vote for such guy are the ones who don't much of their own history..

I have been to BC, whole sikh community is divided into two factions- moderate sikhs and imaginary soo called creation- fundamentalist sikhs as they put it soo much soo gurdwaras are run by these two factions, real anaki/sidaki singhs would never vote for ujjal dosanj and his likes, its the moderate sikhs who votes for him so that they can power in media.

Going deeper:

Here is the deal with sikhs in BC, Canada thats is what i think, others who live in BC, canada can add or correct me if i m wrong- sikhs here are pretty falls into two extremes- one pro sant bhindranwale, pro babar khalsa pro khalistan anti bharamins, anti hindu, anti anyone who doesnt agree to their views and other extreme is anti khalistan because violence against them by khalistani during 1984 because lack of co-operation from their side or simply not agreeing with their side, this extreme is tottaly put off by sikhi- they usually are anti chola/bana wearing singhs, anti kirpan, anti kesh with attitude its inside what matters, anti maryada - sitting on ground etc.

Both extremes are wrong.

You wont find people with mixture in majority as in - pro khalistan movement yet fully against unjustified force...pro sant bhindranwale idea of sovergeinty yet denouncing, condeming other soo called khalistan groups have used unjustified force which have killed loads of innocent civilians whether it revolves around contoversial figures like talvinder singh parmar(contoversial figure read-soft target) or ajaib singh bagri(hate speech to kill 50,000 hindus).

Since there is no middle ground of people in majority who are neither fanatics nor pacifist, its very easy for media take sides towards as they put it moderates which in this soceity means- pacificism/ you just call 911 if you see - rape happening infront of your eyes instead of doing something physically to stop it, that be off course consider as a crime you had no right to be involved, let police deal with it kinda attitude.

Media here generally are anti minorities.

Actually cannot blame fully on media either, when our sikh community leaders can hardly speak english goes to media with an attitude - talvinder singh parmar is an hero, i can say you are terrorist anyone call anyone terrorist with out any proof...instead of creating an intellectual dialogue with the media and correct them- struggle for khalistan/sovergeinty is not as black and white as they think and give glorious examples from the history explained the role of sant-sipahi, give examples how khalsa have in the past denounced violence, condemns violence and only use justified method to get justice and give examples from anmesty international human rights abuse report against india.

quite a bit of damage has been done to the image of sikhs here in canada by bias media or shall i say- naive media, i dont think media should be fully blamed for blunders our soo called khalistan leaders who stuck in one extreme have made.

Its about time canadian sikhs should hold some accountablity, acknowledgement in media yes we had sikh fanatics within ourselves, fanaticism is not a sikh problem but Global problem instead of rejecting the news by playing the usual trumphet- oh look at that kim bolan, terri melveski wrote a bias article, oh they are ought there to get us(sikhs again). Lets stop playing the victim role and do something productive. Victim role as our maha panthic sevadars - arrogrant mini akaal takth wanna be police panthic weekly are doing- http://www.panthic.org/news/131/ARTICLE/3250/2007-04-25.html

They are quoting from the book-soft target whenever it suits them, when you ask them what does it this book think about "Talvinder Singh Parmar"...they zip their mouth.

Here is the download link for e-book- soft target, go all the way down to index, look for talvinder singh parmar, read all the pages related to parmar, draw your own opnion on this matter:

Right click and save target as:

www.gurmarag.net/SikhAwareness/Text

I am not denying there are people who dont follow those both extremes that i listed above but the point is they are still not in majority because they are not visible to media or they dont approach media to set the record straight, thats the problem. People who can hardly speak english ie- comitee member of gurdwara approach media and think they are representative of whole sikh community in BC instead of holding an intellectual dialogue with media and educating them they go on about how talvinder singh is not terrorist, he is hereo, i can say you are terrorist given no proof but rather childish comments,, blah blah.. This is a serious problem, youths in BC like have to sort things out and set the record straight. I have seen media people like to get both sides, but our soo called leaders in BC in the gurdwaras dont return their phone calls, tell me how silly that seems to wider canadian community?

Kim Bolan, terry meliveski have done damage to sikh image no doubt but as they say it takes two to tango, our soo called sikh community leaders in BC have equally done damage to sikh image.

    • WJKK WJKF Sangat Ji, I bought a brand new medium Artisan Kirpan (8.7 inches) from https://thekhalsaraj.com/products/black-g10-ultra-durable-kirpans 2 months ago, and it is in unused condition. I bought it 2 months ago and it is in unused condition, with everything that came with it still fully sealed. I even paid extra to get it ੴ ਸਤਿ ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ  laser engraved on the blade. This cost me £370 including shipping from the USA. It is in brand new condition, but I no longer need it since I have been gifted a new Buddha Dal-made Pesh Kabz for free. I am selling it for £250 even though it is in brand new condition - it is a first-hand Kirpan. From the official website, it costs £370. The handle is indestructable G10 fiberglass, wielded to a razor sharp blade (edge and tip) which is engraved with the custom Gurbani. Please reply if any Singh/Kaur here would like to buy it - it's 100% first hand but £120 reduced price. Includes a an embroidered padded case for airport travel, a blank certificate of ownership, maintenance brochure and a beautifully decorated black/grey adjustable Gatra.   I sent this advert out to a few places, and also asked some retailers if they'd like it, so it may go soon. Please do reply if anybody is interested, more than happy to answer questions too! (Note: the pic is from Google but is exactly what the Kirpan and Gatra both look like - the one I have is still in the packaging).

    • WJKK WJKF! How long will this forum remain online for in a readable & accessible state? It appears susceptible to shut-down. It would be a shame if all the forum's content from over the decades is lost in such an event due to servers hosting this forum shutting-down. This forum, whilst not currently active, remains an important repository of the Sikh religion online. It also is a fundamental aspect of Sikh cyber culture that existed from the early Internet period from the 2000's to 2010's before the domination by big social-media sites that consolidated the community. Thus, have the web-masters of this forum considered archiving this forum's contents before it is lost forever? I can assist you in this by saving the content to the Internet Archive on your behalf. Please let me know your thoughts about such an endeavour and I hope you may consider the possibility of archiving the forum for posterity. Future generations of Sikhs and Sikh researchers will be grateful. Kind regards, Theth Panjabi (you can find me on IG at theth.panjabi and on X/Twitter at ThethPanjabi)
    • Video on the tale, gurdwara, and manuscript: link As the story goes, during the Vadda Ghallughara genocide against the Sikhs perpetrated by the Afghan Durrani Empire on 5–6 February 1762, not only were Sikh lives lost, but our original Damdami Sahib Bir recension was also lost in that carnage. However, over the years I have spent researching our history, many claimed it was taken back to Afghanistan by Ahmad Shah Abdali's troops as loot whilst others said it was secretly hidden somewhere by the Singhs for safe-keeping. As of today, it remains untraceable and I presume it is gone for good. However, I came across a couple of articles stating that there were actually around five master-copies of the original Damdami Bir, with one of these copies being safeguarded by the jatha of Bhai Sudha Singh of the Shaheedan Misl. "It is said that the tenth Sikh master Guru Gobind Singh had got five birs written at Damdama Sahib. The bani (writings) of the ninth Sikh master Guru Tegh Bahadur were incorporated in these birs. These five birs were given to different jathas (groups) of Sikhs by Guru Gobind Singh to be safely installed. One bir was being taken by Sudha Singh who was leading a jatha of 19 Sikhs, when Abdali'[s] forces stormed Kup-Rohira and killed thousands of Sikhs. Though all 19 Sikhs were massacred by Abdali, Sudha Singh somehow brought the bir to Kuthala. Since then it has been kept at village gurdwara." (Times of India, 2012) The gurdwara today [Gurdwara Shaheed Baba Sudha Singh Ji in Kuthala] has a certain historical manuscript that they claim is one of the five master-copies of the Damdama recension. You can see close-up shots of the bir in the video posted. I will also share close-up images of its folios in the comment section. I will also provide a faithful English translation of the video's narration so non-Punjabi speakers may benefit from this post. I will leave the question on whether this bir is authentic or not to your judgement but I will provide my own analysis below.   English translation of the video's narration: The Guru-form Guru Khalsa Holy Congregation (Sadh Sangat) Ji, Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh. The Gurdwara Sahib that the congregation is currently beholding is situated in Village Kuthala, near Malerkotla, in the Sangrur district of Punjab. A very great treasure is preserved within this Gurdwara Sahib. The history of this Gurdwara Sahib is very closely related to the Vada Ghalughara (The Great Holocaust) that took place in February 1762. Baba Sudha Singh Ji, the third head of the Shaheedi Misl, arrived at this location considering it a safe place. He brought with him that sacred holy scripture (Saroop) which the Tenth Father, Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji, had personally dictated to Bhai Mani Singh Ji on the holy land of Damdama Sahib. Upon arriving, he personally performed the last rites (cremation) of 19 martyred Sikhs at this site. As he prepared to leave to take command of the Jatha (the Sikh contingent), the sacred holy scripture he had brought was enshrined at this very location. At that time, this place was known as Dera Jaga Sidh, but nowadays, a very beautiful building stands here in the name of Gurdwara Sahib Shaheedi. The sacred holy scriptures that were enshrined at that time are today ceremoniously displayed (Prakashwan) with great respect every Channi Dashmi (the tenth day of the bright lunar fortnight) for the congregation to behold. Devotees from within the country and abroad arrive to catch a glimpse of these sacred scriptures and receive the Guru's blessings. Every year, an annual Gurmat Samagam (religious congregation) is held for five consecutive days in memory of the martyrs of the Great Holocaust, concluding on Magh Sudi Dashmi. Furthermore, a book containing the full detailed history—titled after Shaheed Baba Sudha Singh Ji and the Hand-written Holy Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji—was released in February 2013 by the managing volunteers based on historical research. It was released by the 14th head of the Shaheedi Misl, Singh Sahib Baba Makhan Singh Ji (the current head of Baba Bakala Sahib), the Meet Jathedar Singh Ji, and Sant Gurdev Singh Ji of Anandpur Sahib (the current head). The congregation can obtain spiritual benefit by reading it. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh.   My analysis: In my humble opinion (which may be incorrect), this bir is not a master-copy of the Damdami Bir. It more closely resembles the highly-decorated birs of the Kashmiri-style that were created during the reign of the Sikh Empire in the first half of the 19th century. We can see this bir has highly illuminated and illustrated angs (folios), which took the great skill of a master artisan to make, which required resources to pay and patronize. Usually, the manuscripts during the Sikh Empire were the most elaborately decorated, as this was when the Sikhs were at a high-point, masters of the land, possessing vast amounts of resources that they could use to fund such endeavors. Therefore, whilst the story may be true and a master-copy of the Damdami Bir recension may have once been at this location, I am not convinced that this particular manuscript is it. I may be mistaken and I am open to constructive criticism. 1633648456_GurdwaraHistory.mp4
    • Sri Kesgarh Sahib (and Akaal Takht) has always allowed eating meat for those who take Amrit there, as long as it's not ritually killed like halaal.  They've followed the official Sikh Rehat Maryada since it was made in the 30s, before that they were Nihang Maryada who also allow meat. So no Panj Pyaare have ever mandated being veg at Anandpur Sahib. You can read the full Sikh Rehat Maryada in English, it includes the Panj Pyaare are meant to say on the day (page 57 I believe). My cousin took Amrit at Anandpur Sahib and my other one in Darbar Sahib 8 years later. I recently showed them both this page and they said that's exactly what the Panj said to them word for word at their Sanchaars
