It might be a virus.

During initial startup it usually says "Press F1 (or esc or somethin) to intterrupt normal startup process" or something along those lines... try messin around wit that... I had somethin like that happen to me recently, n it was a virus.. i jus messed around with some options..

after a few attempts of messin around i finally got windows to start.. then started runnin massive scans n stuff.. haha..

IF it is a Windows XP OS then just do a repair.

Yeah I agree...do a repair...I'm famous for messing up my windows PC's (alas I am now a MAC user and guess what...NO MORE BREAKDOWNS!!!).....

I would often dual boot with linux and would often ruin the master boot record or mess something up so windows would come up with some stupid messages like the one you mentioned.

The best thing to do is to stick the windows cd in during boot and repair it.

DO NOT reinstall it...

If you repair (or I think you can UPGRADE)...it will keep all you files and directories and programs intact and just reinstall the main windows files.

If you haven't got the windows disc just borrow one of someone to repair the pc with.

lsass.exe is a system process of the Microsoft Windows security mechanisms. It specifically deals with local security and login policies. This program is important for the stable and secure running of your computer and should not be terminated.

Note: lsass.exe is a process which is registered as a trojan. This Trojan allows attackers to access your computer from remote locations, stealing passwords, Internet banking and personal data. This process is a security risk and should be removed from your system.

Note: lsass.exe is registered as a downloader. This process usually comes bundled with a virus or spyware and its main role is to do nothing other than download other viruses/spyware to your computer. This process is a security risk and should be removed from your system.

Determining whether lsass.exe is a virus or a legitimate Windows process depends on the directory location it executes or runs from.

if a virus scan in safe mode (try to have ur AV (i suggest AVG FREE) as upto date as possible) doesnt work, then repair option would be your best bet. but i believe that quick repair option is only available with xp pro, otherwise u will have to use the recovery console in xp home.

This happen to my computer but I had it networked to the another computer. My HP had the problem and the other computer that I used to fix it was a Emachine. But here's what I did.

Since I was on a network I just sent a copy of the isass.exe file to shared folder on broken computer (the HP one with the error) from my other (good) Emachine computer.

After that message error pops up I pressed Ctrl Alt Delete (all at once). The windows task manager will pop up.

In the windows task manage I clicked on "file" and then "new task (run)"

Then I simply copied the "isass.exe" from the shared folder (the file from the Emachine) and pasted the file in WINDOWS\system32 folder on my local drive.

In your case you might need to try this with a flash drive.

What you can do is go to msdos mode and try this. i don't remember it now.

it's like

type HELP

and then you will find a word like CHKDSK. An type the C: CHKDSK

This helped me sometimes when i got some errors.

will not harm you laptop.

Just go to ms-dos mode when computer starts.

good luck

    • yeh it's true, we shouldn't be lazy and need to learn jhatka shikaar. It doesn't help some of grew up in surrounding areas like Slough and Southall where everyone thought it was super bad for amrit dharis to eat meat, and they were following Sant babas and jathas, and instead the Singhs should have been normalising jhatka just like the recent world war soldiers did. We are trying to rectifiy this and khalsa should learn jhatka.  But I am just writing about bhog for those that are still learning rehit. As I explained, there are all these negative influences in the panth that talk against rehit, but this shouldn't deter us from taking khanda pahul, no matter what level of rehit we are!
    • How is it going to help? The link is of a Sikh hunter. Fine, but what good does that do the lazy Sikh who ate khulla maas in a restaurant? By the way, for the OP, yes, it's against rehit to eat khulla maas.
    • Yeah, Sikhs should do bhog of food they eat. But the point of bhog is to only do bhog of food which is fit to be presented to Maharaj. It's not maryada to do bhog of khulla maas and pretend it's OK to eat. It's not. Come on, bro, you should know better than to bring this Sakhi into it. Is this Sikh in the restaurant accompanied by Guru Gobind Singh ji? Is he fighting a dharam yudh? Or is he merely filling his belly with the nearest restaurant?  Please don't make a mockery of our puratan Singhs' sacrifices by comparing them to lazy Sikhs who eat khulla maas.
    • Seriously?? The Dhadi is trying to be cute. For those who didn't get it, he said: "Some say Maharaj killed bakras (goats). Some say he cut the heads of the Panj Piyaras. The truth is that they weren't goats. It was she-goats (ਬਕਰੀਆਂ). He jhatka'd she-goats. Not he-goats." Wow. This is possibly the stupidest thing I've ever heard in relation to Sikhi.
    • Instead of a 9 inch or larger kirpan, take a smaller kirpan and put it (without gatra) inside your smaller turban and tie the turban tightly. This keeps a kirpan on your person without interfering with the massage or alarming the masseuse. I'm not talking about a trinket but rather an actual small kirpan that fits in a sheath (you'll have to search to find one). As for ahem, "problems", you could get a male masseuse. I don't know where you are, but in most places there are professional masseuses who actually know what they are doing and can really relieve your muscle pains.
