When reciting the name Waheguru with my eyes closed i always try to keep my mind focused on a certain image or scene to stop my mind wondering. Mostly i always recite it by keeping Guru Ji's picture in my mind. But yesterday my mind wondered and i began do think how do i meditate with a image of waheguru, i tried so hard but i couldent think of a certain image to prefer Akal Purakh himself.

What kind of image do you guys see of Akal Purakh Waheguru, when hearing his name.

It is good to concentrate on Guru jis charan, Or Guru Granth Sahib ji in a gurdwara or VAHEGURU written in gurmukhi coming out the third eye.

Fateh jio

why not the 1st or 2nd eye? Are they too small for waheguru to come out of em?

I'm not sure where this third eye business started from. From the small amount of bani I have read, I've only come across mention of dasam dwaar :s

PS. Perhaps bibi can explain where this "third eye" actually. I have absolutely no clue.

FATEH,

Well basically what I’m trying to say is you know when u close your eyes, your controlling what you see by not looking at nothing but after a while your mind starts wondering if you have nothing to concentrate on. So the third eye is the eye of your mind, as you start imagining stuff in your mind when your eyes are closed. Therefore in order to control that eye you need something to focus on. That’s why I suggested that, but as I don't know much I may be wrong so forgive me.

SSA JI...

umm I don't think its wrong to have a picture in your mind, because our mind does tend to wonder about other stuff/issues...(taan he mann (mind) nu shaitaan kehnde ne) so, its good to hav a focused picture in your head. And yes thats also true to concentrate on what you're saying...the words instead of jst reading through, not knowing what exactly you're reading.

Gurbani tells us>

Tun Meh Tian, Tian Meh Jania, Gurmukh Akaath Kahani

So our guruji tells us to concentrate our mind (Tian) on the sound (Tun). When you are saying Vaheguroo, concentrate on the sound of your own voice saying the shabad "Vaheguroo".

Do not create images/pictues/photos in your mind, that is just another thought and it is Maya. You do not want to concentrate on Maya. Our guru is shabad guru and that is what you need to concentrate on.
