Muslim Follower Of The Guru

BTW Bhagat Kabeer Ji was not a muslim. http://www.searchsikhism.com/islam2.html

Any followers of Guru ji at that time would have most probably learned Gurmat from them and hence would have rejected most of their own religious beliefs (rituals etc.).

My advise is to go directly to Guru Joyt - Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji to learn more about Gurmat.

Thank you for the advice. For whatever it's worth the train of Islamic thought I follow has relatively few rituals, pretty much just salaat, sawm, and hajj (though I know the last two are not seen as worthwhile in Sikhism).

Abdus welcome to this forum,

in my eyes and what ive heard is the relgion a man is born into is the perfect religion for that man, as it is gods will and choice for you to be born into islam.

Guru Nanak's best friend was a muslim, A muslim who lived his life truthfully. a muslim who accepted all human race no matter what religion to be treated as brothers and sisters. A muslim who lived his life in a true muslim way.

if you are interested in the some pacific values in sikhism, you have every right to practice them. and most of all what ever race or religion you are Guru ji's doors will always be open for you no matter what the reason.

"He who is firm in his faith,

Has a right to be called a Muslim.

His acts must be in accord with his faith in Prophet,

He must clean his heart of his pride and greed,

Not troubled by the two impostors- life and death,

Resigned to the Will of God;

Knowing Him as the Doer,

Free himself from the self, and

Be compassionate towards all beings, O Nanak,

Such a one may call himself a Muslim."

This isn't true by any standard.

Guru Nanak Sahib traveled all over the world and people became Sikhs. Jahangir was upset that so many Hindus and even Muslims were becoming Sikhs and this was the reason he says in his autobiography he wanted to have Guru Sahib either killed or converted.

Bhai Mani Singh Janamsakhi says clearly that Bhai Mardana became a Sikh. When Bhai Mardana was close to death Guru Nanak Sahib asked how his body should be handled: buried or cremated or put in water. Bhai Mardana said that it didn't matter to him because he was now Guru Sahib's Sikh. Guru Sahib cremated him. This is all from the janamsakhi.

In Gurbani when it talks about a Muslim you'll see if someone were to follow the advice, they would not longer be practicing Islam but Gurmat. Just like Guru Sahib redefines pandit and yogi, he also redefines Muslim. If someone follows the new definition, they are no longer the original faith, but a Sikh.
