Local Sangat Problems

its getting out of control! local sangat where i live is just 2 crazy. I really need advice because im thinking of seriosuly not attending any of the programs anymore and am jsut going to stick to yearly smagams. First, none of the vajay work. we only have 1 tabla player who sometimes does not come so there is a little kid playing. and ay i add its never on beat? i might come off very rude so im sorry. im just fed up. During the kirtan there are people talking inbetween. chanaiy are incredibly off tune. aunties are singing when the kirtanie does and totally change the tune in a really awkward way. then afterwards its like a party. poeple yelling from one end to the other. and then a bunch of problems as in "i dont like her" "she sfhsfh" "he sfjhslf" and a lot of sarcastic comments.

i come home with the biggest headache ever. All this off-tune singing etc. NEVER bothered me. I was happy to listen to the gurus bani in any way but now its just hard with all this nindah etc.

so my question is, is it ok for me to leave

or should i stay

or am i over exxagerating? i

Take a break for few weeks... and then come back if you would like to..

Try another Gurdwara, or speak to some other members of the Sangat and try to make a change - you can't be the only one who feels like this.

i know exactly how you feel. i see your trying to make the best of out it though. if you cant find any sangat that adaptes to you where you are living try moving if that the last option. maybe uni can be done somewhere else or something if you are at that age.

If Nindiya of Guru Ji is happening than make it stop.

I went to the Gurdwara recently becuase some family had an Akhand Path. So im Sitting in Guru Ji's Darbar after Ardaas and all of a sudden the whole Sangat (prety much all my family) get up and starts talking inside Guru Ji's Darbar. I mean people had their pith towards Guru Ji and stood around for a good 10 mins before going downstairs to have Langar.

Nindiya happens alot but we must be the ones who must stop it and educate people. Some of those things you said would not happen if people realised who Guru Ji really is and what Guru really means. If that could be understood then alot of this would never happen.

^ sometimes its hard to make the nindiya stop since everyone thats doing it is like wayyy older.... you cant just people like veryone shut up and leave the darbar! haha.... i think little me needs to start speaking up at sangat as well when similar stuffs happens :D

There's a way to speak about things to elders... U can find another elder that shares ur opinion and get them to talk to the people who are doing it, or u can speak to one of the elders on ur own afterwards in private, and politely and respectfully let them kno that they shouldn't be talkin in darbar hall etc...
