Thanks for the write up.It is very interesting but do not you think that the ego is a creation of GOD and all the things that GOD give us must have some practical reason so that we spend this life easily and in 'sahaj' form. If it is correct then why should we go back against the God's gift in the process of realizing HIM. God will never say ok. take these gifts from me and never be with me. He would do all that is useful for us. The five senses , the five gyan indri and ego and Maya are all tht may make us reach him else HE would not have given these to us.

What do you think? Is GOD not a well wisher.?

besoft ego is not a gift from god, i requested in an early post why u presumed this. We discussed ego comes under one of the 5 demons that is in the trigun, gurbani says that one will not achieve sehaj in the trigun. Gurbani says the whole world wants sehaj but will never achieve it in trigun. Its all about chautha paad my friend. We both must get there there is no dukh or sukh there just saach. Guru says u wanna go there? First learn to die then come to me! ( I haven't posted the gurbani to each point made but as your a khoji you will know everything said is in line with bani!)

You created egotism and arrogant pride, and You placed greed within our beings.

Keep me as it pleases Your Will; everyone acts as You cause them to act.

************************************

May be it is not a gift but a product Of trigunas but its ultimate source is HE HIMSELF.. Gurbani obliquely touches it in the way stated above.

It is true that with God's grace it can be removed the other way out is to dwell on Shabad that will again require to be in the fourth ,as said by you. Bt don't you think that seva [selfless] and simran can help reduce it.

What is the take of bani on the killing of ego? KIndly explain as to how to reach the turia? How to purify ourself and still keep on living in Grahsth. If you have some other thread please mention the URL .

I am posting another line. It would again require sabad that can kill egoism. It again will require the fourth state. May be you can tell some other method.

Ego exists by the Lord's Order; people wander according to their past actions.

Munjoth ji,

Finally I have the lline that was being searched. Dear, whatever we have is all his gift or as per HIs Hukum or will.If he wills it becomes hukum for us. We can have nothing. we came out of the womb and we cried ,it is said, on account of separation of the naam .[gyani maskeen ji] Even this act of crying is HIS doing. The fact that I am thinking something and am striking the key Board is also HIS wish. There is nothing that we can do.Gurbani says this as 'poor creatures'. We are poor creatores and we have nothing in our hands and control. We may try for something but if our pre ordained destiny does not permit , we shall not get it. Ultimately it is HIS grace. Is there any method prescribed that can invoke HIS grace.I have asked you many questions in the above posts. Kindly answer them serial wise. You shall have to locate them.

Regards.

if we read this tukh:

Haumai garab upāė kai

it is saying 'haumai' caused the punishment of being placed in the garab (womb)

in bani it again states this:

Baadah Baadah Ankankaria Nanak Garab Gaala

*One with a big ego, you shall die again and again in the womb of the mother*

Now how to overcome this ego, you've so kindly stated here:

haumY mYlu gur sbdy DovY ] (121-8, mwJ, mÚ 3)

Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, the filth of egotism is washed away.

In the first instance we apply this to Simran, Shabad Guru - which is Japna Saas Saas, Saas Giraas and Rom Rom Simran of vaheguru. Now once we japp this shabad the shabad will become pargat and this is the second instance where shabad guru is anhad shabad/sehaj dhun. Now how to do this practically that can be told by who has done practical themselves.

Veer ji are my pms being sent to you, i replied twice but to no avail.

Veer ji, the problem here is that the meanings are wrong. This is what happens when one whose mind is not awoken does meanings of gurbani. Gurbani is telling us here what hukum ego has. As it is one of the demons from the punj, who are still under hukum of vaheguru.

Gurbani says that hukum is to put the Mind into kirat karam. This sends the mind into many joons

We then do benti gurbani says: kirt karam ki vichaarai kar kirpa mehalau raam.

You will keep finding bani that will raise doubts..why? Well it is because a) our minds are asleep b) we rely on translations from people whose minds are also asleep...my query to you how can a sleeping mind translate bani that came from dhaargah.

The vichaar goes much deeper of how ego puts the mind into many life forms. The game vaheguru has created: Karti Ni ik khel Richaya. Gurbani then says all maya is under kaals control: Khand Patal Deepka Saab Loha Kaala Vaas Prabh ApaaKeea

Munjoth ji and Lioness ji,

Thanks for clarifications.

Since you have negated all the translations, it means that I shall put a stop till I learn Gurmukhi/punjabi to the extent required. But I am told that Bani is also not in simple Punjabi/gurmukhi.It is as per 500 old dialect. Plus there are words Of sanskrit and persian.I am not sure.

Could you suggest some translated work that is relaible.

I shall be grateful.

wjkk wjkf!

actually there isnt just one translation and u cant really rely on ONLY ONE!

also if u at it...might as well listen to or read bhai Gurdas ji's Vaaran...they help a great deal in understanding gurbani.

i was recently told about Sardar Gurbachan Singh Talib's translation. they in English and make much more sense. so if u want to get that one as well and compare the translations go for it...nd see which ones helps u get to think about the truth=)

as many have said....every time u sit with guru sahib....as u progress meanings will change for u...thats why no ONE translation can give justice to Ellahi bani!

(there was a thread where sangat talked about different translations and interpretations i believe. u might get more out of those discussions and find more sources to help u understand gurbani, Run a search here and see if u can find it,such as bhai Veer Singh ji, bhai Randhir Singh ji, Taksal's audios on gurbani vicchaar and many more)

but dont stop asking questions or the discussions...they help a great deal...guru sahib gives us hukum to do vichaar of the shabd guru

hope this helps

bhul chuk muaff karni

wjkk wjkf!

    • yeh it's true, we shouldn't be lazy and need to learn jhatka shikaar. It doesn't help some of grew up in surrounding areas like Slough and Southall where everyone thought it was super bad for amrit dharis to eat meat, and they were following Sant babas and jathas, and instead the Singhs should have been normalising jhatka just like the recent world war soldiers did. We are trying to rectifiy this and khalsa should learn jhatka.  But I am just writing about bhog for those that are still learning rehit. As I explained, there are all these negative influences in the panth that talk against rehit, but this shouldn't deter us from taking khanda pahul, no matter what level of rehit we are!
    • How is it going to help? The link is of a Sikh hunter. Fine, but what good does that do the lazy Sikh who ate khulla maas in a restaurant? By the way, for the OP, yes, it's against rehit to eat khulla maas.
    • Yeah, Sikhs should do bhog of food they eat. But the point of bhog is to only do bhog of food which is fit to be presented to Maharaj. It's not maryada to do bhog of khulla maas and pretend it's OK to eat. It's not. Come on, bro, you should know better than to bring this Sakhi into it. Is this Sikh in the restaurant accompanied by Guru Gobind Singh ji? Is he fighting a dharam yudh? Or is he merely filling his belly with the nearest restaurant?  Please don't make a mockery of our puratan Singhs' sacrifices by comparing them to lazy Sikhs who eat khulla maas.
    • Seriously?? The Dhadi is trying to be cute. For those who didn't get it, he said: "Some say Maharaj killed bakras (goats). Some say he cut the heads of the Panj Piyaras. The truth is that they weren't goats. It was she-goats (ਬਕਰੀਆਂ). He jhatka'd she-goats. Not he-goats." Wow. This is possibly the stupidest thing I've ever heard in relation to Sikhi.
    • Instead of a 9 inch or larger kirpan, take a smaller kirpan and put it (without gatra) inside your smaller turban and tie the turban tightly. This keeps a kirpan on your person without interfering with the massage or alarming the masseuse. I'm not talking about a trinket but rather an actual small kirpan that fits in a sheath (you'll have to search to find one). As for ahem, "problems", you could get a male masseuse. I don't know where you are, but in most places there are professional masseuses who actually know what they are doing and can really relieve your muscle pains.
