ok i was in ur place about sitting down, for a long time, and i really didnt know what to do.........it was bad for me, i cudnt sit longer than like 5 min. but after taking amrit and starting daily nitnem, i did paath without sitting against the wall. and also at the gurdwara i started sitting away from the wall. slowly without really realising, it became easier.....

basically my tip to u is to practice!!! at the time it will seem that you just cant do it, but seriously after a week u will notice a big difference. just sit and read, or talk to family or watching tv, sit on the floor. at every opportunity sit on the floor... BUT away from the wall lol

other tips

start stretching your legs every morning and also before you sit down.

correct your posture, like are you sitting on your bottom? or like more near the botton of your back, you will find sitting on your bottom that you can sit longer, try adjusting a little bit and finding a comfortable spot lol also widening your legs, or pulling your fit in , or moving them out, just adjust and try out different things

i found that wearing jeans or trousers restricted my legs that little bit, which made it difficult to sit down longer. in bana i could sit through a whole rhensbhai !!

at home try to eat langar sitting down.

or sit on the floor instead of the sofa,

sit crossed legged for as long as you can, then lie down, or change your position to rest, then go to the cross legged position again......... and keep alternating, slowly you legs will become more flexible.......

stretching all the time, even dedicate some time to do simple stretches and relax your legs when sitting down, alot of ppl tense up, but keep your back str8...........

also dont over do it at the begining otherwise you will get sick of it and stop trying. try to enjoy the process..........

To be honest, I can't sit on the floor for very long myself. I've become too used to nice sofas and chairs. Of course, I tolerate it in Gurdwara, but it's a constant struggle of moving in all sorts of postions and I get really injured when it's time to leave and takes me about 10 minutes to walk off the pain I feel.

I have a nice fluffy carpet in my place, and the only time I'm laying on it is when I'm passed out and can't make it to my bed.
