I guess teen pregnancy is becoming more of a trend these days.... and its even sad to know that in most Asian cultures including India abortion is well practiced and not much progress has been seen in declining the abortion of a baby girl....US has had many debates regarding abortion and gay rights.... hope one of the future presidents might do something positive about it....

i personally would never ever do it even if i was raped

but than again who can froce a woman to give birth if she doesnt want too

if it is a rape case than she should be allowed i guess but in my eyes abortion is wrong no matter what

and definatly as the result of unsafe sex( meaning sex at a young age or outside marige)

but i suppose if it was outlawed ppl wud just do it in dangourous ways

i dunnno mayb im seeing this in too much of a black n white view

still we shoukdnt look down at any1 who does it because sumone must be in a very depresed low mentel n emotional state to even consider such a thing

Abortion is not justifyed in Sikhism. But my own personal view is if a womans health is in danger or if she is victim of geniune rape then abortion can be allowed. Other than that I dont see any valid justification for killing a baby, because that what it basically is having seen footage and pics of aborted babies/foetus.

agreed

now thas what i call a true empathetic approach to this issue... :TH: ......the main point of this whole issue is in fact female subordination and psychological consequence due to that.... unfortunately much hasnt been done to comprehend this effect and to demonstrate it to the society....and by this i mean not only sikhs but its for global community :umm:

Wahe Guru Ji Ka Khalsa Wahe Guru Ji ki fateh

This is my first post on this thread. As I have been watching this discussing develop I was eager to put a quick post against abortion, but then thought twice because I would have offended someone without hearing majority of the discussion.

Abortion is taking away a child’s chance at life and to meet God. A child is a gift from God and one thing you do not do is discard a child for your personal reasons. People always want to look at the circumstance of this situation and say if it is right or wrong to get abortion or call it a mistake. To this I say nothing in this universe is a mistake, everything happens because of God. In a persons eyes it might be a mistake for whatever reason, but the fact of the matter is it happened at Gods will. So accept the child in your life. This topic also ties into birth control pills, which also I believe is completely against Sikhism. My simple answer to this is if you are not ready for the responsibilities then do not do the deed.

There is a consensus on the fact that teen pregnancies are becoming more and more unavoidable amongst the people who had no prior knowledge of contraception methods....and more people are becoming optimistic about "doing it" with those available contraceptive options and what could more be worsened when nothing virtually has helped to stop these policies of abortion and female gender degradation.... oh yes! females fetuses were found to have been to be the most amongst abortion cases........ <_<

waheyyyyy! finalli, i cn use RE in everyday life :)

according to what is taught in GCSE RE abortion is bad in Sikihism but permisable if the mother or child's life is endangered. Also, if the mother has been raped and the baby conceived that way, as it can causes pschological issues etc.

in the UK the 24 weeks thing might be changed to 21/22 weeks. I swear that still too late though, as there have been babies bron prematurely at 5 months and survived...5 months is 20 weeks!

    • yeh it's true, we shouldn't be lazy and need to learn jhatka shikaar. It doesn't help some of grew up in surrounding areas like Slough and Southall where everyone thought it was super bad for amrit dharis to eat meat, and they were following Sant babas and jathas, and instead the Singhs should have been normalising jhatka just like the recent world war soldiers did. We are trying to rectifiy this and khalsa should learn jhatka.  But I am just writing about bhog for those that are still learning rehit. As I explained, there are all these negative influences in the panth that talk against rehit, but this shouldn't deter us from taking khanda pahul, no matter what level of rehit we are!
    • How is it going to help? The link is of a Sikh hunter. Fine, but what good does that do the lazy Sikh who ate khulla maas in a restaurant? By the way, for the OP, yes, it's against rehit to eat khulla maas.
    • Yeah, Sikhs should do bhog of food they eat. But the point of bhog is to only do bhog of food which is fit to be presented to Maharaj. It's not maryada to do bhog of khulla maas and pretend it's OK to eat. It's not. Come on, bro, you should know better than to bring this Sakhi into it. Is this Sikh in the restaurant accompanied by Guru Gobind Singh ji? Is he fighting a dharam yudh? Or is he merely filling his belly with the nearest restaurant?  Please don't make a mockery of our puratan Singhs' sacrifices by comparing them to lazy Sikhs who eat khulla maas.
    • Seriously?? The Dhadi is trying to be cute. For those who didn't get it, he said: "Some say Maharaj killed bakras (goats). Some say he cut the heads of the Panj Piyaras. The truth is that they weren't goats. It was she-goats (ਬਕਰੀਆਂ). He jhatka'd she-goats. Not he-goats." Wow. This is possibly the stupidest thing I've ever heard in relation to Sikhi.
    • Instead of a 9 inch or larger kirpan, take a smaller kirpan and put it (without gatra) inside your smaller turban and tie the turban tightly. This keeps a kirpan on your person without interfering with the massage or alarming the masseuse. I'm not talking about a trinket but rather an actual small kirpan that fits in a sheath (you'll have to search to find one). As for ahem, "problems", you could get a male masseuse. I don't know where you are, but in most places there are professional masseuses who actually know what they are doing and can really relieve your muscle pains.
