this sleep is maha maha maha maha ballii, so u r not fighting a small battle, most amritdharis fight this battle at amritvela, the best thing is to get some sangat at amritvela and keep a dandaaa and tell that anyone who will be trying to sleep will be hit by a dandaaa. This dirty mind of ours need fear of dandaa at amritvelaa.

 good advice lol!

Sleep early the night before, say around 9.30/10 pm. Put your alarm on and don't leave it next to your bed, place the alarm at the other side of your room so when it goes off you have no choice but to get up out of bed to turn it off. Once you're up on your feet, you're hardly likely to go back into your bed.

Have a refreshing COLD shower aswell as washing your kesh - the feeling of cold water on your head is just amazing lol. Whilst you're having your ishnaan recite 'VaheGuru VaheGuru' or Mool Mantra, etc. Then get down to Naam Simran say about half an hour to an hour. Sit cross legged with your back straight and recite Naam out loud to keep you from drifting off (though I doubt you would be feeling sleepy after that cold shower lol) Then do Nitnem out loud.

Can be hard at first but the main thing is getting out of bed. Just think you have to get to school/uni/work etc at a particular time and you can't be late can you? So think of Amrit Vehla as that meeting with VaheGuru, think that He's expecting you to be up and to attend this meeting, you don't want to let Him down do you? Hope that helps.

HELPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP

poor amrit leads too kaam problems!!!

Waking up in Amrit Wela is the greatest time to do Paat, espicially at our age. You have any idea the kind of joy Sri Guru Jis gets when a child wakes at Amrit Wela. When Sanths come on tv, they say stuff about how theres things that want to stop us from doing Paat. Every real GurSikh will get a challenge and something that will try to stop them from recieting Naam. It happens to everyone. Do Paat outloud, and do it from you're heart. Treat the Gutka with the greatest respect, hold it high. Watch in a month of doing that, i can not even tell you how good that is to do it. Trust me do it. Its beyond good to do that.

don't beat yourself down too much...either physically or mentally....

ardaas is the solution, as well as balanced diets and ensuring you're getting appropriate nutrition.

also, if you're new to amritvela, then you're going to have difficulties, cuz your body is not used to it.

remember though...if you're on a train..and you fall asleep... the train (and you) will still reach your destination..... and satguru hai bohitha...satgur bohith har naav hai.....so by getting up and really trying to give it your all and giving it your best effort to remaina wake and do bhagti, it is as if you are on that bohith.... and you will still reach your destination..... you will simply enjoy that ride MUCH more if you're awake...so pray from your depths that HE blesses you to remain awake and immersed

cuz in the end, YOU aren't going to be staying awake... it's GOD that will bless awakedness and enlightenment in you....
