Marijuana And Nihangs

The point of this tread was to educate some of you but it seems to have failed. It’s not about a meat debate but to show that sikhi not just about rules and regulations it here to assist us in our ultimate goal. I feel this is too much for some people to understand and hope one day people will be able to see.

I think this tread should be closed it is not about justification about eating meat and taking drugs far from it -as I am a vegetarian, the whole point seems to have been missed. I am interested in calling over some singhs from Chardikala Jatha to do a talk at my Sikh society. So they can educate us as I believe they do have a real in-depth understanding. I will extend an invite on here if any one would like to attend but do remember they give a talk justify what this tread is about> LOL. </SPAN>

What is the point of "shooting the messenger"

The Chardhi Kala Jatha is probably just going by what they have seen many Nihungs practice in Panjab itself. It is not like they are promoting or taking bhang themselves.

Besides if Sikhs of the past did use "panj puthay" or 5 leaves from a cannabis plant, the amount of intoxicating substance (THC) in them would be minuscule, especially in amongst all the other ingredients.

The leaves of the plant are not what is used by people to intoxicate themselves but rather the buds or flowers - which apparently have a MUCH higher level of THC.

did anyone attended to see the chardi kala jatha yet? I wanted to ask them why how and where they have learnt that sikhs used marijuana.

Ratan Singh Bhangu's prachin panth prakash mentions this. I agree that not everything written in historical granths can be trusted but Mr. Bhangu was the grandson of a great martyer Bhai Sahib Mehtab Singh Jee.

If sukhnidhan is prepared with full maryada, there is no nasha in it. Thats what chardi kala jatha says and I tend to agree with them.

My point into this matter was simple that people try to cover up the past which does not suit them, I’m not saying everyone take cannabis but respect an important part of our history and our methods of war. Why hide stuff like that or try to make out it never happened or people who practice are doing something wrong (as long as they do not abuse).

now its a kuriti

shame on u people who are trying to change sikhi according to their jathebandi ...

lets see 3 different conditions

1.hairs ... kill a kessadhari sikh and get 5 paise ...

sir par jo sikh dhare kess

rehn na deyo apne desh ... these were the words of lahors king ...

did sikhs cut there hair with fear of getting killed ... no beacuse cutting hairs is a vajjar kurehat ... 1 out of 4 vajjar kurehats

2.jhatka ... do we have enough proofs sikhs ate jhatka ??? yes we have ... and so the same people say ... ahhh they had nothing to eat so they ate it ... but guru sahib never allowed ... its not guru sahib never allowed its their particular jathebandi ... instead the bigger problem instead of taking it as a part of sikhi they take sikhi as part of it ... this is the boundry of my jathebandi so this should be the boundry of sikhi ...

going back to jhatka even banda bhadar ate it ... so were all they died as tankhayia singhs ????

same people who were ready to get their heads cut but not their hairs ... did other bajjar kurehat by eating meat for saving their life ...

if jhatka was bajjar kurehat ... if a sikh like baba banda bahadar had heard it from the mukh of guru gobind singh that you should not eat meat while taking amrit ... then he should have died and told his fauj to die with hunger instead of telling them that they should jhatka their horses ...

ragra - mareyada was set by guru gobind singh ji 5 patte of bhang which is still followed at hazzor sahib .... to make sikhs strong physical make their immune better ... its not given for nasha ... nor 5 patte has any nasha ... u need to get 100 times more bhang to give u some nasha ...

this mareyada was followed by baba deep singh and all other fauj of guru sahib ... if some one abuses it he is not a sikh ...

in brief sikhs were same who didnt cut their hairs being bajjar kurehat but ate meat and did ragra .... either they didnt understood sikhi ... or you are not ...

appo apni budh hai jeeti ...

I read that Sahib Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji said to Banda not to have more than one wife etc. but he did so anyway...agreed that Banda was a great warrior but it doesnt mean that he followed every word of Guru Ji...

    • yeh it's true, we shouldn't be lazy and need to learn jhatka shikaar. It doesn't help some of grew up in surrounding areas like Slough and Southall where everyone thought it was super bad for amrit dharis to eat meat, and they were following Sant babas and jathas, and instead the Singhs should have been normalising jhatka just like the recent world war soldiers did. We are trying to rectifiy this and khalsa should learn jhatka.  But I am just writing about bhog for those that are still learning rehit. As I explained, there are all these negative influences in the panth that talk against rehit, but this shouldn't deter us from taking khanda pahul, no matter what level of rehit we are!
    • How is it going to help? The link is of a Sikh hunter. Fine, but what good does that do the lazy Sikh who ate khulla maas in a restaurant? By the way, for the OP, yes, it's against rehit to eat khulla maas.
    • Yeah, Sikhs should do bhog of food they eat. But the point of bhog is to only do bhog of food which is fit to be presented to Maharaj. It's not maryada to do bhog of khulla maas and pretend it's OK to eat. It's not. Come on, bro, you should know better than to bring this Sakhi into it. Is this Sikh in the restaurant accompanied by Guru Gobind Singh ji? Is he fighting a dharam yudh? Or is he merely filling his belly with the nearest restaurant?  Please don't make a mockery of our puratan Singhs' sacrifices by comparing them to lazy Sikhs who eat khulla maas.
    • Seriously?? The Dhadi is trying to be cute. For those who didn't get it, he said: "Some say Maharaj killed bakras (goats). Some say he cut the heads of the Panj Piyaras. The truth is that they weren't goats. It was she-goats (ਬਕਰੀਆਂ). He jhatka'd she-goats. Not he-goats." Wow. This is possibly the stupidest thing I've ever heard in relation to Sikhi.
    • Instead of a 9 inch or larger kirpan, take a smaller kirpan and put it (without gatra) inside your smaller turban and tie the turban tightly. This keeps a kirpan on your person without interfering with the massage or alarming the masseuse. I'm not talking about a trinket but rather an actual small kirpan that fits in a sheath (you'll have to search to find one). As for ahem, "problems", you could get a male masseuse. I don't know where you are, but in most places there are professional masseuses who actually know what they are doing and can really relieve your muscle pains.
