Does Gurmukh = Amritdhari

Hope the above does not seem like a silly question. From my understanding Gur-Mukh = Guru's Student. Does that mean that to be classed as GurMukh you have to be AmritDhari?

I would say that a gurmukh is one who has conquered the five theives, a gurmukh follows everyone of the gurus teachings, and has no attactchement to wordly things. As baani also says, gurmukhs are rare. vahigurooo.

Being amritdhari is just the first step, i think becoming gurmukh is one of the final steps.

gurmukh literally means guru's mouth, guru da mukh.mooh

it can be interpreted therefore as sum1 who adhere's to guru's hukam

one of the PRIMARY steps in becoming a Khalsa/Gurmukh is taking amrit

gurbani isn't a handbook for how to live our lives as a true khalsa, it is more a guide on how to find God, love God, shed ur sins, etcetc

for way of life, hot to become a good gursikh etc we have rehit maryadas

and btw bani DOES require Sikhs to take amrit:

One doesn't have to follow a set of guidelines or rules to become a gurmukh all the answers on how to become gurmukh is in gurbani you just have to study bani.

Rehat maryada is a code of conduct to keep us in displine.

You don't have to be amritdhari to become gurmukh. You should read up some sakhia.

being amritdhari definitely does not make gurmukh, but it is the first step
