Vedanti offers to quit, appeals for peace

Amritsar, Reacting to the demand of radical Sikhs, especially the Damdami Taksal, who sought his resignation as Jathedar, Akal Takht, Giani Joginder Singh Vedanti said he was ready to step down, if they (radical Sikh outfits) pledged to make any headway on the Dera Sacha Sauda issue.

Holding the Centre and Haryana government responsible for the violence, triggered by the Dera Sacha Sauda, especially the incident at Mandi Dabwali, Jathedar Vedanti urged the Sikh masses to remain peaceful. He, however, said a peaceful struggle would continue till the rooting out of Dera Sacha Sauda.

Jathedar Vedanti said laxity on the part of the UPA and Haryana government would complicate the situation, he added.

Fantastic response from Vedanti, he forgot about the Gursikh who became Shaheed in Punjab last year and the need for his godfather Badals sarkar in Punjab to initiate action against ram rahim and to shut down the dera of the pakhandi.
