Gurmat Sangeet Camp In Wolverhampton

Please join us for an intensive two-day introduction into the history, terminology and musicology of Gurmat Sangeet or Sikh Kirtan. Alongside is presented the purpose of Kirtan, why Sikh Music was originally started and what impact it has even on the people today. The workshop is executed through short interactive and multimedia lectures, in which topics such as the background of Sikh Music, its different styles and influential exponents are discussed. These alternate with hands- on practice on the participant’s chosen instrument. Vocal practice and great tips for singing are also in the package. Furthermore, a few Shabads are taught, which are performed with instruments by all the participants at the end of the workshop.
