well y are there 3 different sites that show 3 different things, thats my question.

Shashtr

You may be referring to Bir of Bhai mani singh ji.That had SGGS and dasam granth combined in one bir. That si the raeson having so many pages.

When sodhak committee standardized the present bir they had deleted some banis and we have this bir with 1428 pages. But Nihung singhs have the bir in which there is no deletion of these banis.

So is that story about it being compiled into one granth after Sukha and Mehtab Singh beheaded Massa Ranghar false?

There are so may stories, one as above. Another saying Bhai Mani Singh compiled it and now this.

Is the original poster saying that there are two puratan birs of DG in the US? How did they get there?

What are those stories?Do your home work and then question the birs.

I wrote digitized copies of manuscripts are in USA.I did not write birs are there in actuality.

Kahn Singh Nabha's piece:

http://www.santsipahi.org/patshahi10/brief...ikahnsingh.html

A Brief History of Sri Dasam Granth

(Bhai Kahn Singh Nabha)

In the year Samvat 1778 (1721 A.D.) i.e. thirteen years after Guru Gobind Singh ji's demise Mata Sundri ji appointed Bhai Mani Singh ji as Granthi of Darbar Sahib, Sri Amritsar. Bhai Mani Singh ji discharged his duty very efficiently and during his tenure compiled different books including volumes of Sri Guru Granth Sahib and a volume containing writings of Guru Gobind Singh ji. He took a lot pain to collect writing from poets and devout Sikhs and prepared A Granth of the Tenth Master, known as Dasvin Patshahi ka Granth.

Bhai Mani Singh ji attained martyrdom in Samvat 1795 (1738 A.D.) i.e. thirty years after the Guru Gobind Singh ji left this world. Thereafter the Sikhs chose to send the volume of Dasam Granth to Damdama Sahib for perusal which was the seat of learning at that time and was known as Guru ki Kanshi.

Volume of this Dasam Granth was discussed in detail in the Khalsa Divan. There three views emerged. First: the entire volume be kept as such and be not split into different parts. Second: we should have one Granth only which has been conferred guru ship by Guru Gobind Singh ji himself and this Granth be split into different books so that the learned, scholars, Gianis and students are able to study it according to their competency. Third: many said that it should be split into two parts, one containing sri mukhvak banee which enunciates the principles of the of Khalsa and the second volume should contain the history etc. Fourth: many said that the volumeprepared by Bhai Mani Singh ji should remain intact but certain deficiencies be removed, like searching missing portions etc .Fifth: many were of the view that the rest of the Granth be kept as such but the Chritras and eleven Hikayats, which could not be recited in the open divan and is more difficult for ladies, should be kept in another volume. Many more suggestions came but the gathering could not reach to any conclusion. Then Bhai Mehtab Singh Mirankotia came to the venue and said “I am going to punish Massa Ranghar for desecration of Sri Harimandir Sahib. If I come back alive after killing Massa Ranghar then this Granth should be preserved as such, and if I attain martyrdom then this should be split into different books”. Bhai Mahtab Singh returned safe after accomplishing the feat and the ' beer' of Dasam Granth remained intact.

Shastr,

I had asked the same question as u some time ago.

http://www.sikhsangat.com/index.php?showtopic=37811&hl=

So, from collecting info from various sources is that...

The standard version of 1428 pages, doesnt include Charitropakhyan (793 pages), and some others like Sahansharnama and Malkus ki vaar.

Inder Singh wrote this on that thread about the ?Bani? of Malkus Ki Vaar: I have a copy of this document with me.There are seven pages. It mentions Har ju hartmandir avange and also name nanak is there in concluding line.

So could you please tell a bit more about Malkus Ki Vaar, and if possible also of Sahansharnama...

oh! i get it.

and "har ju harmandir avange" is a line that comes in kalki swaiye, many times. bhai sukha singh ji has done an audio file of kalki swaiye. u can hear it at: http://sridasamgranth.com/#/dasamgranthaud...ayer/4526692036

so the standard version has no chandi charitar? aww man, how we gonna get any bir raas without chandi charitar? who's idea was to take these banis out?

    • yeh it's true, we shouldn't be lazy and need to learn jhatka shikaar. It doesn't help some of grew up in surrounding areas like Slough and Southall where everyone thought it was super bad for amrit dharis to eat meat, and they were following Sant babas and jathas, and instead the Singhs should have been normalising jhatka just like the recent world war soldiers did. We are trying to rectifiy this and khalsa should learn jhatka.  But I am just writing about bhog for those that are still learning rehit. As I explained, there are all these negative influences in the panth that talk against rehit, but this shouldn't deter us from taking khanda pahul, no matter what level of rehit we are!
    • How is it going to help? The link is of a Sikh hunter. Fine, but what good does that do the lazy Sikh who ate khulla maas in a restaurant? By the way, for the OP, yes, it's against rehit to eat khulla maas.
    • Yeah, Sikhs should do bhog of food they eat. But the point of bhog is to only do bhog of food which is fit to be presented to Maharaj. It's not maryada to do bhog of khulla maas and pretend it's OK to eat. It's not. Come on, bro, you should know better than to bring this Sakhi into it. Is this Sikh in the restaurant accompanied by Guru Gobind Singh ji? Is he fighting a dharam yudh? Or is he merely filling his belly with the nearest restaurant?  Please don't make a mockery of our puratan Singhs' sacrifices by comparing them to lazy Sikhs who eat khulla maas.
    • Seriously?? The Dhadi is trying to be cute. For those who didn't get it, he said: "Some say Maharaj killed bakras (goats). Some say he cut the heads of the Panj Piyaras. The truth is that they weren't goats. It was she-goats (ਬਕਰੀਆਂ). He jhatka'd she-goats. Not he-goats." Wow. This is possibly the stupidest thing I've ever heard in relation to Sikhi.
    • Instead of a 9 inch or larger kirpan, take a smaller kirpan and put it (without gatra) inside your smaller turban and tie the turban tightly. This keeps a kirpan on your person without interfering with the massage or alarming the masseuse. I'm not talking about a trinket but rather an actual small kirpan that fits in a sheath (you'll have to search to find one). As for ahem, "problems", you could get a male masseuse. I don't know where you are, but in most places there are professional masseuses who actually know what they are doing and can really relieve your muscle pains.
