punjab can't be runned by democratic way.. They need someone who can kick their butts to keep them on right path.

lohri is now just a cultural holiday.. I celebrated it like for years.. never knew the importance oh lohri.. so chill it's nothing wrong if you have balanced thinking :@

I think dowry and ego is the big thing behind the less ratio of girls in punjab :@ don't ya think ??

Those are number one reasons.... I guess contuining a family name, will also come into the same category ... and also some just want male cuz of the male dominating working industry in india, for poor they 'think' it would be a benefit to them... :@:)

Satpreet ji......I have a question for u.As u said:
I am totally OPPOSED to LOHRI

Whats so wrong abt LOHRI? :T:

I think u r refering to the same festival which we guyz celebrate togther and share sweets. right?

Bhul Chuk Maff

Balwinder Singh ji:

heres how i see Lohri: its a Hindu festival/holiday/occassion. Why do Sikhs in Punjab celebrate it? Why do Sikhs out here in foreign countries go to Punjab when they have a baby boy to celebrate Lohri in Jan? I guess thats where culture messed up our ppl :umm: @ .

Whenever I hear about anyone going to Punjab from here for Lohri it is always for a baby boy, never for a girl :D . T

Hey go there and give ladoo to everyone in the pind cuz they had a boy, but never when they have a girl :( . So that pisses me off cuz I was 2nd girl born in same year as my cousin sister, and when my grandparents in Punjab got the letter they were upset cuz I was a girl and not a boy  . so there was no Lohrii for me :D . When my bro was born THEN THEY DID GIVE OUT LADOOS TO EVERYONE IN OUR PIND :D

Satpreet ji ,

I take lohri in very different perspective.Personally my family never celebrate special lohri for baby boy or baby girl. For me LOHRI is great because we all go to gurudwara sahib and I feel really nice to have gr8 sangat.I really enjoy Gurudwara sahib when there are a lotta sangat.

I dont feel bad if Lohri is a hindu festival.....becuase it give me a chance to be in sangat.

I dont feel bad if Christmas is a catholic festival.....becuase it give me a chance to be in sangat.

I dont feel bad if Thanksgiving is an American festival.....becuase it give me a chance to be in sangat.

I dont feel bad if Diwali is a hindu festival.....becuase it give me a chance to be in sangat.

I dont feel bad if new year is a western festival.....becuase it give me a chance to be in sangat.

For me everything is same "GOING TO GURUDWARA SAHIB AND HAVING GOOD SANGAT"

Thats what I feel is gr8 abt any day which belong to other communities but gives me a chance to have sangat.I will be very happy if I find sangat on every other day, I wont care if that day belong to any particular community.

I have many many hindu frndz...and I love sharing my festivals with them( many of umm were with me on Vaisakhi...and they enjoyed kirtan).I personally donot have any hard feelings for any religion in this world. So I wud like to celebrate every community's day with going to gurudwara and sitting in sangat.

Thats why LOHRI ....NEW YEAR....THANKSGIVING....DIWALI.....and any other festival brings a big smile on my face.

bloody kuri maars

i hate punjabis who do that. We keep saying islam is this that punjab and india is no better. They still set alight a daughter in law in the kitchen and say its an accident n grab the dehj list presents that was the classic one. Just 3 years ago a man in delhi roasted his wifes body parts in the home kitchen to avoid being detected for killing her. in the dhuaab region of punjab gangs of girl smugglers prowl out for girls kidnap them and send/sell them to other parts of the east. asia is a hellhole for women.

    • yeh it's true, we shouldn't be lazy and need to learn jhatka shikaar. It doesn't help some of grew up in surrounding areas like Slough and Southall where everyone thought it was super bad for amrit dharis to eat meat, and they were following Sant babas and jathas, and instead the Singhs should have been normalising jhatka just like the recent world war soldiers did. We are trying to rectifiy this and khalsa should learn jhatka.  But I am just writing about bhog for those that are still learning rehit. As I explained, there are all these negative influences in the panth that talk against rehit, but this shouldn't deter us from taking khanda pahul, no matter what level of rehit we are!
    • How is it going to help? The link is of a Sikh hunter. Fine, but what good does that do the lazy Sikh who ate khulla maas in a restaurant? By the way, for the OP, yes, it's against rehit to eat khulla maas.
    • Yeah, Sikhs should do bhog of food they eat. But the point of bhog is to only do bhog of food which is fit to be presented to Maharaj. It's not maryada to do bhog of khulla maas and pretend it's OK to eat. It's not. Come on, bro, you should know better than to bring this Sakhi into it. Is this Sikh in the restaurant accompanied by Guru Gobind Singh ji? Is he fighting a dharam yudh? Or is he merely filling his belly with the nearest restaurant?  Please don't make a mockery of our puratan Singhs' sacrifices by comparing them to lazy Sikhs who eat khulla maas.
    • Seriously?? The Dhadi is trying to be cute. For those who didn't get it, he said: "Some say Maharaj killed bakras (goats). Some say he cut the heads of the Panj Piyaras. The truth is that they weren't goats. It was she-goats (ਬਕਰੀਆਂ). He jhatka'd she-goats. Not he-goats." Wow. This is possibly the stupidest thing I've ever heard in relation to Sikhi.
    • Instead of a 9 inch or larger kirpan, take a smaller kirpan and put it (without gatra) inside your smaller turban and tie the turban tightly. This keeps a kirpan on your person without interfering with the massage or alarming the masseuse. I'm not talking about a trinket but rather an actual small kirpan that fits in a sheath (you'll have to search to find one). As for ahem, "problems", you could get a male masseuse. I don't know where you are, but in most places there are professional masseuses who actually know what they are doing and can really relieve your muscle pains.
