THE JATHEDAR

Sant Giani Jarnail Singh Ji Khalsa Bhindranwale

003_JATHEDHAR.jpg

The 20th century’s great General, the heart of the Sikh youth, charismatic personality, Sant Jarnail Singh Jee Bhindran Wale were born on 1947AD at village Rode, Dist Faridkoth to Baba Joginder Singh and Mata Nihal Kaur Jee , Baba Joginder Singh Jee was a dedicated sevadar of the Sikh Nation.

Sant Jarnail Singh Jee took Amrit when he was about 5 years old and remaining committed to prayer, was made his life long aim. Daily they would recite 110 JapJee Sahibs and the Panj Granthi whilst doing his farming duties. They remained at their village and were engrossed in meditations for 11 years. He had little formal education but his memory was astonishing. Sant Jee memorised the following Bani’s, Dakhani Oankar in 1 day, Sukhmani Sahib in 13 days, and Sidh Gosht in 1 day and Asa Di Vaar in 8 hours.

008_JATHEDHAR.jpg

When Sant Gurbachan Singh Jee Khalsa arrived at village Rode as he did every year, he took in one of the 7 sons of Baba Joginder Singh to live in Jathan Bhindra on a permanent basis, who was Sant Jarnail Singh Jee. Sant Jarnail Singh Jee was educated in the knowledge of god, by Sant Gurbachan Singh Jee Khalsa. In 1 year they learnt the correct pronunciations of Gurbani and Gurus history. His Anand Karaj was performed in 1966AD at Village Bilaspir with Sardar Sucha Singh’s daughter Bibi Pritam Kaur. He has two sons who are Ishar Singh born in 1971and InderJeet Singh born in 1975. After Sant Giani Kartar Singh Jee Khalsa ascended to Sachkand, Sant Jarnail Singh Jee was appointed the Jathedar of Damdami Taksal. The current acting Jathedar Baba Takhur Singh tied the Dastar of Jathedari on Sant Jarnail Singh Jee, after which Takhat Sri Patra Sahibs Jathedar Bhai Mohan Singh Jee presented Sant Jee a Siropa on behalf of the Takhat Sahib.

007_JATHEDHAR.jpg

Under his Jathedari of Damdami Taksal, Sikhi Parchar with much fervour and passion was started, for 8 months they did parchar touring Punjabi villages/cities, Madh Pradesh U.P, Bombay and Calcutta and other areas, arriving at which they performed effective Parchar. They were about to embark on their second tour of parchar when on 1978 Vaisakhi, the Nirankaris had announced a large gathering/programme. Sant Jee accepted the challenge of the Nirankaris. The Government and Anti-Sikh sentiments started to say that Sant Jee was an extremist and terrorist, but still Sant Jee came out untarnished and the Damdami Taksal’s fame and respect kept rising.

005_JATHEDHAR.jpg

The Damdami Taksal were the first to take note of the anti-Sikh practises of the Nakali Nirankaris, Damdami Taksal’s Jatherdar and Singh’s in 1953 had discovered that the Nakli Nirankaris were distorting the message of the Sikh Guru’s, Sikh history, Sikh religion and discipline. The discoveries of Damdami Taksal were never acknowledged or attempted to be understood by many. About 18-19 years from today, in Tamil Nadhu, some low-cast Hindus became Muslims, and the whole of the Hindu society was angered and worried by this act. Even in Indian parliament the question was raised as why the low castes Hindus are converting to Islam. As a direct result of which organisations such as Vishav Hindu Pareeshaad and Verat Hindu Samelan were born. In Hindustan there is about 87% Hindus of the population (approximatley 60 billion). If out of the Hindu nation some convert to Islam then this is seen as a threat, if the Sikhs who are 2% of the population are attacked ideologically, this is not seen as a threat. To get to this conclusion does not need much assessment. This threat was first pointed out by the Damdami Taksal; the Damdami Taksals aim from its onset has been to tackle those opposed to Sikhi. To make opposition to those opposing Sikhi, is not to oppose other faiths. It is similar to the Hindu faith followers of low castes converting to Islam opposing this, it is not necessarily opposing Islam. Damdami Taksals primal duty has been to tackle attacks on Sikhi- regardless if they are sects of Sikhi or exterior threats, but it is not to oppose other faiths.

017_JATHEDHAR.jpg

Sant Jee found out that the Nakali Nirankaris were going to do a procession in Amritsar, in which their leader and his wife will be seated in a canopy and that much anti-Sikh propaganda will be done. Singh’s sent by Sant Jee and the Akhand Kirtani Jatha went peacefully to protest against the Nirankaris, but the Nirankaris met their peaceful nature with gun fire and 13 Singh’s were martyred and many were injured. After this bloody encounter their event still carried on for more than 3 hours. The government openly supported the Nakali Nirankaris. On 24 April 1980 the Nakali Nirankaris leader was assassinated, for this assassination both the government and the Nakali Nirankaris made Sant Jarnail Singh Jee a prime suspect. On 9 Sept 1981 Lala Jagat Narain was assassinated and a warrant for arrest was issued for Sant Jarnail Singh Jee. Sant Jee voluntarily courted arrest on 20th September 1981. He was taken too many places and questioned on many issues whilst in custody. But no evidence was produced against Sant Jee and he was released without charge.

J_(17).jpg

On 26 April 1982 a Morcha (campaign) was started to get Amritsar holy city status. Some Singhs of the Jatha and Bhai Amrik Singh Jee (AISSF) were arrested. Sant Jee began the Dharam Yudh Morcha on 19 July 1982 to get the innocent Singhs freed.

178_JATHEDHAR.jpg

The Dharam Yudh Morcha was also adopted by the Shiromani Akali Dal on 4 August 1982 and they declared that the Morcha would continue until all demands of the Anandpur Sahib resolution were met. In the first three months of the Dharam Yudh Morcha 40,000 Singhs courted arrest. The Delhi government weren’t giving an inch and not even one of the demands were met. Due to the press coverage and mass participation in the Dharam Yudh Morcha, the government began to criminalise and persecute the Sikh community, through its propaganda and tools of state machinery. The government propagated the view that Sikhs wanted the whole of the India to be divided into many nations and that Sikhs were enemies of Hindus. They propagated the view that the lives of Hindus in Punjab were under threat and that an exodus of Hindus from Punjab had begun.

zzzz_(5).JPG

The Asian Games of November 1982 were being held in New Delhi. The Sikh leaders had expressed their desire to inform the world media at the Games that Sikhs had been discriminated against since independence in 1947. Prior to independence Gandhi, Nehru and the like who had given promises to the Sikhs, had not fulfilled these promises. Indira Gandhi hinted to Bhajan Lal that Sikhs should be discriminated against during the games, due to Bhajan Lal’s orders every Sikh was interrogated prior to entering Delhi, to ascertain if they were terrorists or not. They were treated very badly, they were rigorously searched and questioned, to the extent that Ex-Cabinet Minister Swaran Singh, Retd. Air Chief Marshal Arjan Singh, Retd. General Arora were even interrogated. Sikhs were given a strong message that they are 3rd class citizens and that they are unwanted residents of India. This disrespectful, unwarranted treatment was not criticised by state or central government, the press or intellectuals did not question this disgraceful treatment. No Sikh Congress Minister resigned in protest. Only one conclusion could be drawn from these events, Sikhs are an oppressed minority in India.

J_(37).jpg

Indira was convinced that the Congress Party Sikhs were that low that even if she ordered an army assault on Sri Harmander Sahib, they would remain silent and would tow the party line. She was confident that the Shromani Akali Dal would be taught a lesson and they would not dare step out of line again. Leading Akali leaders gave assurances to Indira Gandhi that Sant Jee would run scared when faced against the might of the Indian Army and that they will not support him, in the event of the attack. Many leading personalities of India and abroad, discussed the Dharam Yudh Morcha with Sant Jee. Sant Jee would make all those who visited him content, with his responses. Dr Subarmanim Swami who was a member of the Indian Parliament had to say after discussions with Sant Jee, “If Sant Jarnail Singh is a terrorist then so am I.”

J_(47).jpg

The government were failing in their propaganda attempts as they were losing to intellectual and well grounded arguments. They were getting frustrated and thus they sent the army into Punjab and put in place a state of emergency.

For the nation that the 9th Guru, Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Jee was sacrificed (as a matter of human rights) and in the independence of India, 92% of those who were killed by the British were Sikhs, instead of being grateful they attacked Sri Harmander Sahib and Sri Akhal Takhat Sahib on 1st June 1984. Thousands of army personnel and tanks were used in the army assault and a fierce battle raged until 6th June 1984.

zzzz_(9).JPG

Some leading Akalis had informed the government that when they (the army) win the battle, upon gaining control of Sri Harmander Sahib, then Sant Jee and his associates will join their hands and surrender and the heroics of the Taksal will end. In 1983 one journalist even had the audacity to write that the heroic stories that the Sikhs narrate at Gurpurbs and never tire in retelling, they are myths like the Puranic myths. The Delhi government were convinced that Sant Jarnail Singh would surrender and that Sikhs would be totally disheartened after the attack and will become apathetic and controllable. The outcome of the attack they thought would be an end to the rebellious nature of Sikhs and an assimilation of Sikhs into the Hindu fold, Sikhs simply becoming long-haired Hindus.

zzz_(10).jpg

In March 1983 Sant Jee learnt of all these evil plans and the prevalent threats to Sikhs and devised strategies to lead the Sikhs through this critical and historically definitive period. He attempted to ensure that the dreams of the enemies of the Panth were not prosperous, and that the cause of the Sikhs received global media attention. In the eyes of the world the Sikhs made a unique victory with Operation Blue Star, as the government had to stoop so low in attempting to silence the Sikhs, making history. In the battle that ensued Baba Thara Singh (Damdami Taksal), Bhai Amrik Singh (President AISSF), General Subegh Singh and many others were martyred, Sant Jee heeding the advice of the Singhs went to an undisclosed location.

Poor Sikhs or Simpletons?

santjji1.0.jpg

It was Sunday and I had arrived at Amritsar from Bathinda early in the morning. At the Guru Ram Das Langar, in the room built underneath the stairs, I ran into Bhai Amreek Singh. He asked how I was and said to me "Bhaa-jee, a lot of Sangat comes to meet Sant jee and there's not enough time. Sometimes he doesn't care about the foreign Sikhs who've especially come to meet him and he embraces the Simpletons and wastes so much time with them. Help us out. Bring Sant jee's attention to this matter, because despite all my effort, he doesn't pay any attention to this.

24244.jpg

According to my own nature, I told Sant jee exactly what Bhai Amreek Singh had said to me. Right away Sant jee became upset and called Bhai Amreek Singh and Bhai Rachhpal Singh near him. He said "I need my "simpleton" friends much more than your friends with their dollars and pounds. Be Warned! No one should say anything unbecoming about these poor Sikhs.

The Giving of "Medicine"

jarnail_singhji_bhindr.jpg

It was noontime. I was sitting alone with Sant jee. A very simple looking, middle aged Sikh couple from the villages came in. Their poverty was quite apparent. They gave their Fateh and put a cardboard box in front of Sant jee. The Sant asked "what is this?" They replied "it's medicine". Sant jee then asked "Is it for me or someone else?" The poor Sikh replied "I don't know about that. If you want to keep it, you can. If you want me to give it to someone else, I'll take it there."

File0027.jpg

The Sant opened the lid of the box and emptied it into his lap. His lap filled with revolver and sten-gun bullets. Sant jee very lovingly thanked the villager couple and asked his sevaadaars to arrange for refreshments for them. Throughout this entire episode, Sant jee kept looking towards me and smiling. (note: in Punjabi "golee" means both bullet and medicine tablet)

Not an Ordinary 'Sant'

Sant%20Bhind.jpg

It was noon time. In Sant jee's room in Guru Nanak Nivaas, we (I, Bhai Amreek Singh and Bhai Racchpal Singh) were sitting on an extra manja beside Sant jee's bed. The Sangat was coming in to say Fateh one by one. In those that were coming, most were women and a bit of a crowd had formed. Without warning, Sant jee jumped onto his bed and stood up and was about to hit a very large woman with his teer (arrow). I, in a bit of panic, grabbed his hand and asked "What has happened?" I was of course a bit shocked.

He spoke in anger and said "You know what she was saying? She was asking for a son!"

File00011.jpg

There was no need to say much more. We told the Singh at the door to stop the flow of sangat for a while.

But this is clear, we usually hear about traditional 'Sants' giving children and women come to them to ask for boys. This is a pity for the entire society and this was and continues to be a very big problem in the Sikh world. Sant Bhindranvale was not only away from such practices, he was strongly against them.

Two Brigadiers

The days of Blue Star were approaching and people with various views often met Sant jee on the roof of the Langar Building. While I was standing there, two retired Sikh Brigadiers came and said "We wish to speak with you privately". Sant jee said "There is no shyness here, please speak" The Brigadiers said "We have seen and evaluated all the outposts and defences around Harmandar Sahib and we feel that there is a weakness in the fact that the Singhs don't have binoculars. There is a need for at least two binoculars (per outpost)" Sant jee said to Bhai Amreek Singh, who was standing nearby "Come and listen to these people". The Brigadier then said "To understand your full power, if you could tell us how many weapons you have exactly, it would be good"

Putting his hands on the mid-sized Brigadier's shoulders, Sant jee said "General Sahib, You've commanded very large armies. I'm a stupid Jat. What do I know about these things? You should read GurbaaNee. Doing that gives power."

An Important Meeting

File00051.jpg

It was a Sunday in May 1984. I arrived at Harmandar Sahib at 9 AM, and noticed an odd sadness everywhere. I came to the Parkarma and saw about 25 young men in yellow dastaars with kamarkasas marching. In the room underneath the stairs of Guru Ram Das langar, Sant jee's companions used to plan out strategy and have meetings. All outsiders used to enquire here first. I arrived there and asked Bhai Amreek Singh about the 25 men marching in the Parkarma. He answered "These Singhs are from Hazoor Sahib. They told the Kar Seva Babas that until the existing gurdvaras are secured and protected, there is no need to build new gurdvaras." Today I think that these young men had arrived from all over after receiving training, all according to Sant jee's strategy. Their march was to give warning to the government.

File0012.jpg

Bhai Armeek Singh said that in a little while the Jatha (Jatha Bhindran) would be having an important meeting on the roof of Sree Akaal Takhat Sahib. "Sant jee has asked that you (Dalbeer Singh) should certainly come to this meeting." I said that "I am neither a member of the Jatha, nor even amritdhaaree, how can I go to this meeting?" Bhai Sahib asked Sant jee on the intercom and said Sant jee wanted to speak to me in person. After answering my Fateh, he forcefully said "Gurmukha, you must come to the meeting." Answering my concerns, he said "I'm the head of the Jatha, and it is my decision to make about who can attend the meeting and who cannot".

page33.jpg

At around 10 AM, I, Bhai Amreek Singh and others went to the highest roof of Sree Akaal Takhat Sahib where the meeting was to take place. Because there were too many Singhs and not enough room, they had made an "L" shape around the dome. Tyaar-bar-tyaar Singhs with yellow dastaars, yellow kamarkassas and knee length cholas and kachheras, with their weapons facing sky-ward were giving an amazing sight. This sight can be seen in paintings of puraatan times. I took a place in the corner facing Harmandar Sahib.

File00041.jpg

Sant jee came and stood in a corner. He could see all the Singhs form this spot. In his pure Punjabi, Sant jee said "Singho, I have called your meeting because the situation is very serious. A Jatha has come from Sree Hazoor Sahib and you should arrange weapons for them. Whoever amongst you have two weapons, should return one. You may choose which weapon you want to keep, because later on, there will be no changes. After this, Sant jee's assistant Bhai Rachhpal Singh took his small diary and began to take an account of the 100 Singhs' weapons. This took about half an hour.

Then Sant jee resumed his speech. He said "Singho, the government will according to its strategy surrounded us with 100 000 soldiers. It is possible that jets and helicopters could be used and parachute soldiers could be dropped onto the parkarma. But until then, you will not fire any weapons, until the soldiers fire. Let the government fire first. Until the soldiers jump from the planes, do not fire. But when they do, not one parachutist should land alive. Don't waste ammunition and you should take one life with each bullet at least. If the enemy comes very close, distribute the Ladoos (hand grenades). This will be a very terrifying incident but taking the support of Guru Ram Das jee's feet, we will pass this test. "

Sant Ji doing the seva of Sehaj Path

Jernail_41.jpg

Sant Jee was performing a Sehaj Paath & the electricity in the building went. The Singhs who were there went outdoors due to the heat indoors and after a couple of hours they went back indoors. One of the Singhs went straight indoors and saw Sant was still doing Paath and he asked Sant Jee how have you been reciting the Paath whilst the electricity was gone (as Sant Jee had done Parkash of the Pothi and carrying on as normal, even though the electricity had just come back - so he couldn't have set up the Pothis so quickly). Sant Jee said what can I say - the letters of Gurbani or shining to me in gold thus I could recite in the dark.

Akhand Path at Sri Hemkunt Sahib

The Singhs went to Hemkunt Sahib and performed an Akhand Paath at the Gurdwara Sahib and one of Sant's friends had the midnight duty for Paath of 12am - 2am and he said he got lazy on the first night and asked Sant if he would do his duty - Sant Jee obliged and did all 4 hours to 4am. The next night this Singh got lazy again and asked Sant Jee to do the seva again, Sant Jee again obliged. This friend of Sant Jee then awoke at 4am and saw Sant Jee walking across the ice bare-footed as the sleeping quarters were a bit away from the Darbar. He asked Sant Jee if he was mad walking on ice and didn't he feel the cold - Sant Jee replied Dasmesh Pita looks after his Sikhs. (someone had taken Sant Jee's chapals while he was on the role/duty).

When Sant Jee was arrested he was asked many questions by the interrogating officers one of the questions was:- "You are the 13th Jathedar of Damdami Taksal, the first Jathedar Baba Deep Singh fought on even though His head was chopped off. Do you think you are as powerful as Baba Deep Singh?"

Sant Jee replied, "Chop my head off and test your theory" (the police officers were shocked by the response and his audacity)

Interview about Sant Baba Jarnail Singh Ji Khalsa Bhindranwale

This is an interview with a Singh who was very close to sant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale. It explains the personality of Jarnail Singh and teaches us so many things. I wil urge others to write more about Jarnail Singh personality and other Singhs who . . .edited . Their LOVE and sacrifice should always resides in our hearts. It reminds us this game of love and keep us alert from the Kaumi enemies.

“Was it odd for you that you used to have Jarnail Singh as just your friend, and then he was suddenly in a high position like that?”

“No, we understood that he was now the head. And friendship is……. Well, the friendship was of course still there. But we now showed greater respect to him because of his position.”

He went on. “Jarnail Singh Ji was not really very different as head of Damdami Taksal. He was just like he always was. He had a great peace of mind before he attained this position and after. He used to come to our rooms in the dormitory and we would laugh and laugh. He would ask about our troubles and problems and help us with them. He was so strict, too. If we would do anything wrong, he would not spare us!”

The Granthi laughed as he remembered, fondly, being disciplined by Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale.

“Would you say he was growing in his spiritual power during that time?”

“He had always made a strong impression on people, even before he was a Leader. He was the only person that virtually everybody respected. Even Sant Kartar Singh Ji, he would not treat Jarnail Singh Ji as a student or a disciple, but as an equal, a real Gursikh. He felt his power."

“Sant Jarnail Singh Ji had so much respect for Gurbani and Guru. Once I know we were sleeping in the same room, and we used to just lie in the floor rather than using beds. There were some prayer books up in the rafters and one time one somehow got loose and fell down at Jarnail Singh Ji’s feet. He was sleeping and didn’t realize what had happened. When he got up and saw the book lying by his feet he cried, “This is an insult to Gurubani, how could I do that?” He was very disturbed about this and wouldn’t eat or sleep. Sant Kartar Singh Ji went to him and said, ‘Jarnail Singh, this is not your mistake. You didn’t do anything wrong.’ But Jarnail Singh was in such a pain that he read the whole of the Guru Granth Sahib as an apology."

“You only love Gurbani like that when you know it has provided you so much. There are some people who respect it for nothing, it’s just a gesture. Just because of tradition they bow before it. Jarnail Singh Ji was not a tradition. He was the living image of Gurubani. If you wanted to see some Sikh out of the Guru Granth Sahib, Jarnail Singh Ji was the one.” Amarjit added, in a mood of nostalgia, “Jarnail Singh was such a gentle man, a very loving and spiritual person. Everybody felt this from him. You would have really liked to know him.”

Sant Baba Jarnail Singh Ji Khalsa & encounter with police

Pre 84 a warrent was put out on Bhram Giani Mahpursh Sant Jarnail Singh Ji Khalsa Bhindranwale. The police had setup camp about a half mile away from Gurdhwara Sahib Gurdarshan Parkhash Mehta.

Sant Jarnail Singh Ji knowing the police's plan told the Singhs not to hold any enemity with the police officers and not one stone be thrown at them. He further told the Singhs that any stones thrown, directed at the police would be the equavilent of them throwing stones at him. Sant Jarnail Singh Ji then went and gave themselves up for arrest. The Singhs angered and upset at there inaction to prevent Mahpursh from being arrested where angered and infuriated that they let Mahpursh get treated with such disprespect that they all headed out towards the police camp.

The police ready quickly moved back and got set with guns and rifles pointing at the Singhs. The Singhs then retreated back and remebered the bachan of Mahpursh, but a few where still angry at their in-action when Sant Jarnail Singh Ji whome they held in high regard was being treated in a disrespectful manour by the police.

A dozen Singh not paying head to mahpursh dey bachan grabbed Kirpans and Tegh's and went outside and started to move towards the police camp. The police waited for the Singhs to come into a distance and then opened fire. 6, 7 Singhs got Shaheedi that day.

Morale: The morale I got was accept Mahpursh they bachan. Even if they seem far fetched. Its hard to blame the Singhs who went after the police even after mahpursh told them not to, because of the sharda they had for Sant Ji. But to think if they had adheared to Mahpursh dey bachan they wouldn't have had to give this (in my view) un-nessassarry Shaheedi.

Sakhi typed as remembered, from the katha narration of Baba Charn Singh (Bhagat Ji).

A shastar weilding extremist?

Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh

"With reference to weapons I shall only say that you should bear arms. Being armed, there is no greater sin for a Sikh that attacking an unarmed person, killing an innocent person, looting a shop, harming the innocent, or wishing to insult anyone's daughter or sister. Also, being armed, there is no greater sin that not seeking justice."

Sant Baba Jarnail Singh Ji Khalsa Bhindranwale - Speaking about the relevance of Shastars, October 1983

zzzz.JPG

"The Government has started calling extremists such Sikhs who are Amritdhaaree and administer Amrit to other; who read Baanee themselves and teach others to read it; who favour unity, preach unity and exhort people to be united; such people are called extremists. For this reason they call me, your humble servant, too an extremist. This is because it is my business to explain Gurbaanee, teach Gurbaanee, to administer Amrit this is why I am called an extremist....Protecting the honour ofour sisters, promoting respect for the Nishaan Saahib, being ready to preserve respect for our Isht, seeking justice for the blood of innocent people that has been shed and to prevent it being shed in the futurem this is the kind of extremist that I am."

SANT BABA JARNAIL SINGH JI KHALSA BHINDRANWALE - THE POWER OF A POORAN BRAHMGYANI

It was amidst the height of the Morcha and the police were eager to capture anyone who was linked to Sant Ji in any way, shape or form. If they were to capture Sant Ji then it would have been even more tasteful.

Sant Jarnail Singh Ji Khalsa had to go to a near by village and needed to do so quickly. They grabbed a Singh and asked him to take them to the village on his Motorcycle. The Singh, being a Shardaloo (loyal follower) of Sant Ji, duly obliged.

On the way Sant Ji said to the driver, whatever you do NOT look behind you. The Singh agreed and they continued on their journey. As they approached the police check-point the Singh began to feel cautious, he told Sant Ji that he could see the police and if they were to see Sant Ji they would definately arrest them or even shoot.

Sant Ji told the Singh to remain calm and remember to keep looking forward; answer any questions that the police may have and be courteous and respectful at all times.

As they approached, the police told the driver to slow down and pull over. Nervously, the Singh followed the instructions. The police asked him his details, where he was coming from, where he was go etc.

The Singh was stunned that the police had not even looked at Sant Ji. As they began to set of again, the Singh looked behind him and saw there was no one sitting on the back of the motorcycle.

The Singh was stunned..

As they approached the village, Sant Ji thanked the Singh but also told him that he wasn't supposed to have looked behind.

For the duration that the police were questioning the Singh, Sant Ji had disappeared... That's the power of a Pooran Brahmgyani...

    • yeh it's true, we shouldn't be lazy and need to learn jhatka shikaar. It doesn't help some of grew up in surrounding areas like Slough and Southall where everyone thought it was super bad for amrit dharis to eat meat, and they were following Sant babas and jathas, and instead the Singhs should have been normalising jhatka just like the recent world war soldiers did. We are trying to rectifiy this and khalsa should learn jhatka.  But I am just writing about bhog for those that are still learning rehit. As I explained, there are all these negative influences in the panth that talk against rehit, but this shouldn't deter us from taking khanda pahul, no matter what level of rehit we are!
    • How is it going to help? The link is of a Sikh hunter. Fine, but what good does that do the lazy Sikh who ate khulla maas in a restaurant? By the way, for the OP, yes, it's against rehit to eat khulla maas.
    • Yeah, Sikhs should do bhog of food they eat. But the point of bhog is to only do bhog of food which is fit to be presented to Maharaj. It's not maryada to do bhog of khulla maas and pretend it's OK to eat. It's not. Come on, bro, you should know better than to bring this Sakhi into it. Is this Sikh in the restaurant accompanied by Guru Gobind Singh ji? Is he fighting a dharam yudh? Or is he merely filling his belly with the nearest restaurant?  Please don't make a mockery of our puratan Singhs' sacrifices by comparing them to lazy Sikhs who eat khulla maas.
    • Seriously?? The Dhadi is trying to be cute. For those who didn't get it, he said: "Some say Maharaj killed bakras (goats). Some say he cut the heads of the Panj Piyaras. The truth is that they weren't goats. It was she-goats (ਬਕਰੀਆਂ). He jhatka'd she-goats. Not he-goats." Wow. This is possibly the stupidest thing I've ever heard in relation to Sikhi.
    • Instead of a 9 inch or larger kirpan, take a smaller kirpan and put it (without gatra) inside your smaller turban and tie the turban tightly. This keeps a kirpan on your person without interfering with the massage or alarming the masseuse. I'm not talking about a trinket but rather an actual small kirpan that fits in a sheath (you'll have to search to find one). As for ahem, "problems", you could get a male masseuse. I don't know where you are, but in most places there are professional masseuses who actually know what they are doing and can really relieve your muscle pains.
