Langar - Soup Kitchens ?

shouldnt more gurdwaras being feeding homeless (even if they drink or take drugs) etc with langar - mobile soup kitchen styleee?

instead of serving up already fat men who come to gurdwara to socialise?

thre r langars for homeless.. on special days... but it should be frequent..

Yes, it should!. The problem is most of us want to run our own high profile organisations, jathebhandis, panthic groups, samagams, schools, achedamies and divert the sangats finances, time, sewa and commitments on to that instead of going back to basics and just feeding the real needy people.

All it takes is for some gursikhs to set an example and others will follow. Some Gurdwaras do do this by providing langar to homeless shelters or allowing anyone to enter the Gurdwara regardless of their state. Ask at your all local Gurdwaras or hang around with the right sewadars at the Gurdwaras (not the official committees) and you may be surprised at the gupt sewas that do take place.

Tell em to stop feeding on the Samosas and the Pakore so much...Like Eat more Vegetables with dips and stuff...Sheesh!

Well...In the Gurudwara Sahib, everyone who comes to 'meet' Maharaj Ji is considered a part of the sangat...Right???...

Maharaj calls his Sandh Sangat "Sadhus" or even "Sants" sometimes...He doesn't look at what type of people they are...Instead, he looks at the same 'Jyot' they all have/are with LOVE...I mean no one is perfect...And especially not the Fat Men...like wow... :6 ... They eat way too much...And then Socialize to digest all that food!...So much going on!!! :umm:

with christmas coming up as well and the global climate looking weaker by the day, why doesnt all sangat get together with their daswandh and pay gurdwarah to do a one day.................or one weekend langer?

I know Sedgley Street in wolverhampton have a sort of outside langar hall, next to the back/outside enterence hall to hall 2..............all it needs is a 8-10 people putting daswadh together, i cant see gurdwareh committee having an issue if sewadaar put up the maya for it and are actually willing to participate in the sewa also...................if anyone is interesting in organising one in wolves and is will to put in their daswandh and do sewa on the actual day PM me and lets see................with maharajs kirpa............what we can do.............

I have been thinking the same thing for a while, gurdwaras should be providing shelter and food for the homeless. Too much of the sangats money is being wasted on flat screen televisions.

Gurdwaras are being extended but not providing anything for the community,

Is it not possible to have the normal langer hall? and the langar their maybe you could as the gurudwara their view on the idea ?
