Maybe daass can shed some light on this...

Back in 2006 (three years ago), the guys who run BritAsia TV came up on the idea to launch the Sikh Channel (entitled "The Sikh Channel". The guys had experience running a professional tv station on Sky TV before hand which was called Legal TV. The idea was put forward accross a couple of organisations who got on board the idea as well. Everything was in place apart from two important things : sevadars and funding. Because of these two reasons, the idea was scrapped and the focus then shifted to BritAsia TV, with an aim to launch a dedicated Sikh Channel by the end of the decade.

In 2008, the sevadar behind the new Sikh Channel (by KSUK.org above) done a short term placement with BritAsia in charge of "Spiritual Programming" and decided to start the project away from BritAsia to launch a Sikh Channel. BritAsia had already been (very) slowly preparing to launch Sikh Channel at some point but no date or timescales was set.

Now, BritAsia have (finally) got a dedicated team to the Sikh Channel and renewed their regestration with Sky TV to bring about the worlds first dedicated Sikh Channel on channel 840 in a week or two. Everything is set so hopefully, with Guru's kirpa the channel will be launched for UK sangat. These guys know what theyre doing, they are professional having run Legal TV, Red TV, BritAsia and Brit Hits so i wouldnt worry too much about the content being unprofessional. In my opinion, the branding of it needs to be looked at a bit, as i dont like the logo, but thats just me.

In terms of the two channels, yes it would be nice to see a united front but at the moment, i believe this is proving difficult to do as there are a few issues on both sides that remain unresolved.

As someone said above anyway, having two channels would probably be better anyway, but one will definitely need to change its name due to legalities and soforth.

Anyway, this hopefully provides u with some insight into matters.... forgive our mistakes _/\_
