Sangat jeeo, I have a question that has, umm... dogged my mind.

We look it wrong if a gursikh parent cuts their sons' or daughters' hair. However, many of us have dogs, and we cut their hair without question or reason.

If it is wrong for us to cut our hair, why is it OK to cut theirs?

Any answer would be appreciated! rolleyes.gif

interesting question Khalsa4ever ji...i don't have a dog so i don't know a good answer to your question....

but i'll share this:

on the news the other day they showed a sheep that weighed 60 pounds cuz it hadn't been shaved for a long time. All you could see was a BIG ball of hair/wool/ whats it called. Then they showed a video clip of the sheep after they shaved it....the sheep looked so little and naked :umm:

I'll make my question a little more clearer on my side.

We think its wrong for a Sikh parent to cut their kids' hair

We think its wrong for a Sikh to sell alcohol or cigarettes to others (I mean, its wrong for you to have it... but its OK to give stuff to others so they get Drunk??)

We think its wrong for Sikhs to hold a double-standard... preach one thing and then practice another.

God's hukam is God's hukam. If we are supposed to keep our hair, its not because we're human. Its because Gurujee told us that all creatures of God should keep their hair because God gave it to all of us.

So, assuming that, why do we cut our dogs' hair?

Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa!

Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!!

the human body is a specially and incrdible machine, that science has not still been able to find out full capabilities

this body is perfect

our hair is very important

they aid u in ure bhagti

thats one reason y guru je says keep ure natural form

ure hair is not a nusiance, it aids u in reaching vaheguru je, it makes ure bhagti easier

a dog on the other hand,

is not in the state of doing bhagti.

its trapped in the cycle of death and birth

and grass cannot do bhagti either

bhula chuka maf

Khalistani jee, I disagree with you.

A dog most certainly can do bhagti. Was it Guru Hargobind Sahib Jee who shot and killed a rabbit with an arrow to free its soul to join Waheguru?

If the hairs on a human being can make us a superior human, then what right do we have to make our dog inferior?

In my humble opinion, any creature with a nervous system has the ability to make choices in their life. Those choices may be more limited in a dog or a cow, but they are there. It is these choices that give karma to a soul... regardless of what species you inhabit. There is no doubt that the largest amount does come from our human form... but take a look at any animal carefully... they have a soul too... they may either be gentle or vicious. And they are part of Waheguru's kingdom.
