This guy was a bit dense. I mean, how can he blame the priest, he is just doing the wedding. It was his sisters actions that got to him and blaming others is just weak.

But what can we do in the modern day and age anyway. I say allow freedom in marriage but insist on conversion to Sikhism. Like the Akal Takhat actually pushed (a good thing for a change!)

Other than that, mixed marriages are only going to become more common, not less. It's even happening back home.

We should applaud these youngsters for trying to uphold the Izzat of their family.

Well Done, I say!

The acts they committed may be classed as criminal however at least they did not sit by and watch their Father's Dastaar role around in Mittee.

If this was the case with most brothers in our community we would be much better off.

The law and the media has termed this Sikh Honour Killing attempts etc, however maybe the law should look at the real culprits of Honour killings...the people who killed Princess Diana???

If a white person had done this, it would merely be classed as a revenge attack or jealousy.

However as soon as a Sikh does it, it classified as honour killing etc.

The law of England has no honour, they will never understand our principle of "Thee, Bhen Di Izzat" this is why people like Sant Jarnail Singh Ji, in the eyes of the western world, will always be classed as Terrorist.

Okay, but when is someone going to suggest a way to combat these issues holisticaly , without Sikh men having to commit crimes which goray are ready to pounce on and amplify in their press, to make us look like backward morons?

What will happen when such events increase (which is very likley to happen). Are we all going to have to batter the priests that perform such marriages? How long will that last, and how much mileage will racist, supremecists types get out of it at our expense?

Can we not find a better way of dealing things i.e. prevention. Because the alternative is to constantly fight fires like this until we look like theTaleban. Which is exactly what some jerks want anyway. Get it?

The Izzat 'honour' was lost when the family decided not to educate the girl with sikh values and principles, and not educated in sikh history like most of the girls and boys in the community.

The families honor was not taken from the 'Hindu' man or Priest.

We should in no way support such criminal activities.

The guy did good in my book only thing he did was not to have planned it properly hence the reason for his arrest. The Hindu priest clearly knew that it was a secret wedding and that the girls' family would not approve. The same is the case with the Muslim witness. Whatever the outcome of the trial what do you think that priest will do when he is approached again to perform a secret wedding? Chances are that if he has any sense he will refuse and the same for the Muslim women who nearly became a kebab!

How sad that people support attacking innocent people and trying to force religion on them. it's no different from what warped extremist Muslims do to thier womenfolk, who they regard as being less than a man. There are no Sikh values exemplified by actions of this demented person.
