Akaal Takhat Jathedar Lashes Out

Jathedar Akal Takht Giani Gurbachan Singh Saturday on the occasion of 25th anniversary of operation Blue Star came down heavily on the Union Government of India for sending army to attack on Golden Temple in June 1984.

In a message released here, Jatehdar equated Union Government led by the Congress party with German army dictator, Hitler. Jathedar said that during 1984 operation Blue Star, Indian army following the orders of Union Government led by Congress party attacked at hundreds of innocent devotees who had assembled here to observe religious function of martyrdom day of fifth Sikh master Guru Arjan Dev.

Describing the slain militant leader Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwala as martyr, Singh said the Bhindranwala and his associates were killed by the Indian army in 1984 while protecting the sanctity of holy Akal Takht.

Singh said that many Sikh youth during late eighties were arrested from Punjab by the Government and still languishing in the various prisons of the nation. Singh said that all the youth have now touches the threshold of old age and still rotting behind the bars and none of the Government bothered to get them released. However, Singh didn’t divulge any details regarding Sikhs as how many still in jails and the location of jails. Singh also asked the Punjab Government as well as Union Government to do the needful to get release all the Sikhs who were arrested around more than twenty years back.
