the best one i have used, is Zoom H4. Its affordable. ($200 or less)

its records wav and mp3 (up to 320 bit)

and

it transfers using USB or the SD Card.

and it does support SDHC so as much room as you want. (FYI -- it comes with 1 GB card = about 30hrs)

Its very good. I would reccommend. and its easy to use....

I have been told Olympus is the best make on the market for a very clear STEREO recording, also stores upto 2gb

Find the one that records in Mp3, they have it in argos for around £120

A friend told me that there is a cheaper one also in Argos but only records in WMA

Hope that helps

Gurfateh Ji,

currently using a Sony PCM-D50,

http://www.sony.co.uk/biz/view/ShowProduct...;site=biz_en_GB

Professional grade recorder, has the same XY mic set up as the Zoom H4, but is a lot better quality, but unfortunatly it is also a lot more expensive.

Records in Linear PCM, uncompressed Audio, so very clear, but does mean you have to convert to MP3 on your computer if you want to upload on the internet

some examples of when it has been used,

S!ingh Ji, thats an excellent quality recording. Could I ask if you record by putting the recorder in front of the Kirtani (using the recorders mics) or plugging it into the sound system?

Also, I am not keen on Alkaline batteries, does it have a power lead also?

Cheers.

Khaalis ji,

The recordings above were made via line-in from the Sound System Amp.

The below are samples of recordings done using the built in Mics,

Harvinder Singh & Satvinder Singh Delhi Wale

The recorder has a power adaptor but I have never used it as the battery life is very good.
